I loved 5hat the kitchen was open for us to bring in taake out and have proper dinner ware. It added to a perfect experience that I can't wait to repeat
This place was great! Delicious breakfast, comfortable bed, great location. Really enjoyed watching the owners chickens and listening to birds and frogs at night. General store and brewery/restaurant one block away.
Beautiful property, bed was very comfortable lots of amenities. The staff was very welcoming and it was extremely close to our activities up on the volcano there was also the most delicious café, just around the corner- O’Helo. Great service amazing food
We had a wonderful stay here. Our only gripe, a minor one, was the breakfast was not included. We misunderstood from the description that we wouldn’t have to figure out breakfast options but that was quickly remedied by the businesses nearby. The property is beautiful and the owner and her dogs are very friendly. Would definitely stay again.
Beautiful property wholly built with timber. Well maintained and tastefully themed decorated individual rooms. Loved the sound of nature and amenities in the room was thoughtful and personal.
Communications by the property was timely and clear for a smooth non face to face checkin.
A 1927 (according to a write up in the room) plantation home for a “skilled worker”. Cut up in 4-6 rooms. Beautifully decorated and clean and very quiet except for the coqui frogs which I think sound very melodic. Easy parking and access! It is a great stay for volcano watching!

Convenient location to Volcanoes National Park and very pleasant setting. Rustic. The owner Robert was a very nice person to interact with. The food provided could be better, as the email said there would be fruit and yogourt, but none were provided. Also, it would be nice to have a hand towel in the bathroom and a tea towel to dry the dishes in the little kitchenette. Overall a good experience.
Aloha Junction Guest House was formerly a B&B, but now considered a non-hosted guest house. The house is a beautiful former plantation house. The guest rooms are themed. Ours a cowboy theme. Really cute & tastefully done. We arrived to a welcome basket of food for our first breakfast. There was a microwave, fridge, kettle & coffeemaker in our room. The kitchen was off limits to guests. But we were welcome to use the living & dining rooms. We did not meet our hosts, but they were available by phone if needed. This guest house is a perfect location if you are visiting Volcanoes National Park. The hosts also provide useful info about local restaurants, etc.
We stayed in the two queen beds Gardenia unit. Great location near Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Lovely landscaping in the backyard, with a Nene goose and a few chickens greeting you in the morning. Comfortable beds. Great breakfast / coffee shop (Eagle Lighthouse Cafe) a 2 minute walk away.
Surprises: Thin shared walls with other connected units. A loose (but friendly) pit bull dog that roams the grounds. No sink in bathroom, only one sink in “kitchen” - making it hard to brush your teeth if you have dishes in the sink. Sunlight roof and light shades do not allow for “blackout” conditions.
Great location, lush surroundings. Everything was outstanding !
EXCEPT …. Advertised breakfast was a huge disappointment!
French toast ( heated in toaster) Yum !
However,
Hard boiled eggs …. were black throughout the yolk ?!?!
Yogurt: “ Best by date “ were both out of date by TWO weeks ?!?!
Coffee creamer: No exp date, but they were lumpy and curdled!?!
HUGE disappointment ( esp as property is in a remote location )
Did email property before this review, but no response .

sue didn’t seem to take our safety that serious stating “people who stay here are really nice” when expedia sent everyones room codes out to everyone else and i asked to get mine changed. it was eventually changed but she was way too nonchalant about the mishap when two young girls are traveling alone
It's a converted house at the end of a very long driveway.
The only issue (absolutely only one) is that the walls aren't especially thick and you could hear people in the next room over. I didn't hear them often but it meant I was worried that if I watched TV I might disturb my neighbors.
Otherwise it's a very clean well appointed place to stay. The room is very tastefully decorated and the furniture in good shape. The bed is very comfortable and everything is in good repair and working order as far as appliances and fittings.
They also go overboard on snacks and coffee, while it's only a Keurig cup a day per person staying in the room there's also hot chocolate, yogurt and a variety of breakfast odds and ends.
The grounds themselves are nice, there's shared decks and outside spaces that might have been really nice if I hadn't been out and about so much.
I'd recommend this place if you plan to do a lot in Volcanoes National Park, you are just down the road, it's a great place to head back to after a long day.
