Volcano Acres Ranch B&B

Volcano Acres Ranch B&B

10/10 Excellent
"Staying at Volcano Acres was truly one of the most special parts of my Big Island trip. The peaceful pond, adorable animals, and beautiful surroundings made it feel like a little sanctuary. Inside, every detail showed so much thought and care: the comfortable cotton sheets, cozy robe, delicious coffee, helpful notebook, and all the little touches that made the room feel warm and welcoming. The breakfast was exceptional: fresh, high-quality, and beautifully prepared. I especially loved the wonderful fresh papaya Evie prepared. You could feel the care that went into everything. But what made this stay unforgettable was Theresa. She is the kind of person who puts her whole heart into what she does, and I could genuinely feel her kindness and caring throughout my stay. I feel lucky not only to have stayed here, but to have met her and had the chance to have a meaningful conversation with her. This is much more than a beautiful place to stay. It has heart, and that is something you don’t find everywhere. I left feeling genuinely grateful that I chose this place. ❤️🌿"

"This was by far the best stay I had on my entire trip! Tucked away in the cutest little village, this perfect gem has all the charm and feel of the island. You can truly see the care put into every detail of the interior, making the entire stay feel warm, authentic, and inviting. My favorite part was hearing the frogs at night. I opened the windows, listened to the sounds of the island, and had one of the most peaceful nights of sleep on the entire trip. I will definitely be back! If you’re visiting Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, I highly recommend staying at this charming little Chalet Kilauea. You won’t be disappointed!"

"From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed. The room was great and spacious. It does get cold at night, but there is a portable heater in the room. The staff was literally a text away. I didn't want for anything. John was very pleasant and a joy to talk to. I will definitely put this on my hotels to stay at again."

"Lovely spot to enjoy Volcano National Park. The small town is quite limited, so maybe not ideal for a long stay. The Bamboo Guest house was well suited for our family of four. Our two children slept on the “floor futons” and were very comfortable. The house is not air conditioned, which means the windows must be open when it is warm out, allowing some bugs and moisture in. But, the rain forest vibes are pretty nice. Really enjoyed the Japanese soaking tub. WiFi is very spotty. Host was lovely and the breakfast fruit and breads were nice additions."

When is the best time to go to Volcano?
The best time to go to Volcano is during the dry season, which typically runs from May to September, offering the most pleasant weather for exploring.During these months, you'll experience less rain and more sunshine, making outdoor activities like hiking in Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park much more enjoyable. The park is the main draw here, and clearer skies provide better visibility for viewing volcanic landscapes and, potentially, active lava flows from designated viewpoints. For those planning an active holiday, the dry season is ideal. The trails within the national park, such as the Kīlauea Iki Trail or the Devastation Trail, are less muddy and easier to navigate. This is particularly good for couples or solo travellers who want to spend their days exploring the unique geological features and lush rainforests. The shoulder months of April and October can also be good, as they often have decent weather with fewer crowds, which can be an advantage for a more relaxed visit.
