  • Thank you for showing interest in Kohala Lodge. This Beautiful 2400 square ft craftsman-style Paniolo (cowboy) retreat is your's for you and your guest only. The retreat sets on 3.5 acres located at the Northwest coast of the Big Island above Historic town of Hawi. When staying at the Kohala Lodge you can visit and feed the animals... FREE High Speed Wi-Fi

    The Lodge House is fully furnished. Work and Play at Kohala Lodge the large Lani offers a great setting. The Lodge House has two baths and sleeps 4 comfortably. The second floor loft with a Queen size bed overlooks the great room with large fireplace and 30 foot ceilings. Make a cozy fire for those cool evenings ( fire wood provided )

    The spacious Master bedroom is located on the main floor with private bathroom. The Lodge House is a unique timber-framed Paniolo style ranch home made of high quality large yellow cedar wood. Come enjoy paradise in this relaxing, beautiful home with spectacular ocean and sunset views from just about every room.

    Relax on the expansive font deck overlooking the ocean / see the Whales spouting when they are migrating through Hawaii. Finish your day barbecuing on the grill and enjoy your food in our fully furnished kitchen.

It is a magical property located close to downtown Hāwī. The wonderfully crafted house with a spacious front lanai overlooks the delightful, friendly farm animals, grazing the rolling green pastures, and the Pacific. At twilight, you can often see Maui 30 miles away. The glorious sunsets photograph well!

Already dreaming of a return trip to this magical place. The care and attention to detail that Chris put into creating and maintaining the house and property was truly remarkable. We felt welcomed and right at home. House was immaculately clean, yet full of character and cool things to discover. Our kids loved running around the soft grass and playing on the swing, and our whole family looked forward to seeing the animals awaken as the sun came over the property each morning.

We absolutely love their beautiful lodge. It is a magical place in a beautiful setting with incredible views. We will be back again and highly recommend staying here. The family was very f friendly and accommodating. We loved sitting on the deck taking in the spectacular views. The lodge was masterly built by the owners. It provides a very unique stay up rly in the Kohola mountains. Thank you, Aron and Sandra.

Chris was an excellent host. The lodge is a truly magical setting. Even when there are clouds and rain, it is beautiful. A quiet retreat overlooking the channel between Maui and the Big island. It was enjoyable seeing the routine of the animals each day. We will be back.

Wonderful and Unique Place

The best place to stay on the big island!

This is the best place to stay on the big island. Great view, great vibes, great host. Away from the crowds but not too far from all the beaches and restaurants. We’ve stayed here two years in a row and plan on coming back next year.

Amazing house and location

We stayed at this property for a few days and it was amazing! It makes you feel like you are in one of those pastoral alpine locations but you'll find it in the middle of Pacific with the incredible ocean view! The house is also on the best scenic drive in Big Island. Will come back to stay definitely!

Beautiful with unbelievable views

This beautiful lodge is undoubtedly one of the best places to stay. It is spotless and has absolutely everything you need to make meals. It is rustic, yet modern, the best of both worlds. I'd stay here for morning coffee and the sunsets from the front porch alone.

Awesome Location

The pictures on the listing do not do justice to the actual accommodations and location. The views are spectacular, the grounds are meticulously maintained, and the house is clean, well decorated and the beds are super comfortable! I highly recommend this property to anyone who visits the big islaand!

Romantic and Relaxing

My husband and I stayed here as the last stop on our honeymoon. The lodge was incredible! Chris thought of every detail to make a charming and unique spot in the world! I wish we had stayed longer! The views looking toward Hana across the water were gorgeous, and I will never forget sitting on the porch watching the sunsets, rainbows, and horses. The house had everything we hoped for and more. We'll definitely be back!

Quiet, peaceful, everything I had hoped and more

We had a wonderful time staying here. My kids and I do enjoy an amazing sunrise with coffee and was able to grill out under the stars with an amazing sunset. The owners were phenomenal and not only had great communication but also were excellent hosts and gave us great ideas for things to do while on the big island. I would 100% come back here, and the town that is nearby Waia. Is perfect for breakfast or even dinner and shopping. Very small town with boutique shops but just a great small town relaxation vibe to it.

AMAZING

This is the best VRBO we have ever stayed in. So quiet and secluded. Views were just breathtaking. The host, Chris, was out every day taking care of the huge grassy lot and everything was so well manicured. Hope to go back in the near future and take our grown kids. Thank you Chris!!!

The host was extraordinarily knowledgeable and the house provided a wonderful window into living in Hawi like it was years ago, plus modern conveniences. The ranch animals really are just on the other side of the fence. Great Internet connection.

Chris, Carol and Justin were the perfect hosts. The property and home is stunning and every attention to detail was met. The home was clean with a gorgeous view, floor to ceiling fireplace, cable tv, internet, washer, dryer and cooler, beach chairs and towels to use. Chris provided firewood on cool evenings, charcoal for the grill, tips on beaches, hikes, restaurants, history of the area and the farm animals are such fun to visit and feed. Close to many nice beaches, hikes and about 2 hours from Volcano National Park. We saw lots of whales, sea turtles and there are plenty of places to snorkel nearby. There is an affordable FoodLand grocery store 30 minutes away and smaller shops right in Hawi for anything you might need. If you are looking for some time on the Big Island away from the resorts to experience the true spirit of Hawaii this is a great choice with great hosts that give you privacy but always available if you have any needs. You won't be disappointed!

A refreshing time with nature!

We enjoyed our stay at Kohala Lodge while there on a business trip. The grounds are beautiful and I adored feeding Pua the Shetland Pony & Nova the spotted horse as well as the goats! The rustic ambiance of the lodge combined with the dense trees & green surroundings had me begin to relax my city mind & feel close to nature. Magical

This property was everything and more. I wasn't sure if we were in Montana or Hawaii ! The views from the deck were amazing. The animals and owner on the property a real bonus. We barbecued in the evening and sat on the porch relaxing for many hours. Everything was fantastic. We will be back. Thank you so much for an amazing stay .

Solitude

Beautiful home and surroundings. Absolutely peaceful. No traffic, leaf blowers, loud neighbors, barking dogs. Sitting on the porch watching the sunset and the owners cool animals. Great place to relax and get some rest. Plenty to do close by. One of the best vrbo’s we have stayed in. Even comes with a decent guitar and a very nice bass ukulele. Thanks to the owners for making this availability.

A healing homestead

This house and location was otherworldly. The feeling of a 100-year-old homestead, with all modern amenities, in a serene setting with incredible views of the Pacific and Maui. We could’ve spent the entire time on the huge front porch. And we appreciated Chris leaving us feed to give to the resident horses and goats. The location also gave us great access to everything up and down the northern Kohala coast. We’d absolutely stay again. Mahalo!

Getaway in paradise!

The property and view exceeded expectations. The grounds were beautifully landscaped and the nightly sunsets were amazing. The lodge had everything we needed to cook our own meals and have quiet nights in. My fiancée enjoyed the claw foot bathtub. The place even came with a log and fire supplies to have a cozy fire in the fireplace. We loved feeding the hosts beautiful animals each morning and Chris was very kind and informative with great tips and heretical pearls about the Kohala area. Would recommend to any friend and we will certainly be back in the future!
