The hotel was recommended by close friends. However, we were disappointed. At check-in we were not given much information, and it took us a day to discover that there was a living room with tea and coffee facilities. Our room was okay, but generally "tired," in the sense that we felt it well past its prime. Fittings in the bathroom - including shower screen handles - were broken or missing. Our feeling was that the ground floor and second floor had great character, but that beyond that, it was dated. In addition, with no lift, hauling bags up several flights of stairs was a challenge. The front desk was hit and miss and depended who was on it, with the younger staff most helpful. We did mention to one of these younger people that we were disappointed with the room. Overall, our feeling is that for our next visit to Florence we would probably choose a different hotel.

As soon as we arrived we were told we would be switching rooms the following day. Due a wall caving in somewhere in the hotel. Our new room was 3 flights higher, on the noisy street, dark, dingy, with moldy bathroom and a tiny shower. I asked if I could stay in original room as I have planters fasciitis and the stairs would be difficult. I was told no that someone else needed the room

Beautiful building for family in Florence
Beautiful room for family of four with two bedroom apartment right outside main building, great space for myself, wife, and two kids. Parking right in front of room, although tight, was as promised. Just make sure you realize hotel is in a restricted area so don't drive right to hotel, find the parking first. Area is great, a bit of a walk to tourist area, but makes it easy to drive to and quieter at night. Beautiful property, gorgeous facility. Highly recommend.

The hotel was charming. The Florentine style had already convinced us when booking. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Unfortunately, we did not notice anything about our Vip status.

This hotel is a bit far from the Duomo, the furnishing are nice, but the bathrooms are dated. Breakfast was just ok.

Lovely little spot with good prices, great staff and a nice breakfast. Convenient for those with a car. A bit of a walk to the center. We chose because of the proximity to the small station ( not the large central one) because we had an early morning train. All worked out well and very glad we stayed here

Delightful Hotel
The hotel was built in 1869 as the British embassy, and is a beautiful hotel. It feels like one is in Europe rather than a generic box, and the staff are very friendly and very helpful. The breakfast is all we wanted and more. Our room was quiet, and the bed was very comfortable. We were delighted!

good hotel, check it out.
We had a great room at the fground floor with a small terrace. The bed was great, it was clean and the breakfast was fine. Walking distance from thie city center so next time we are in Florence we will try to get this hotel again.

Great little boutique hotel, close enough to the major sights of Florence to walk to. Had three memorable meals at restaurants we could walk to as well. Good breakfast in the AM included. Nice semi private patio out our French doors for wine in the evening before dinner. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Bedbug bites and no response from hotel
We had a generally nice stay. The hotel was aesthetically pleasing if a little shabby. The breakfast left a bit to be desired, lack of plates and cups and cutlery as much as budget food and absent staff. What really left a lasting impression though was bedbug bites. We have had to spend time and money cleaning our luggage and praying that they didn't hitch a ride. We emailed the hotel management and received no response. TBH a refund of the room rate wouldn't have been unreasonable, given the situation. So sadly our advice is a clear AVOID.

Dear Mr. Ian, we are very surprised by what you claims, but as usual we were alerted by having an expert intervene, who has not found any contamination in the room where you stayed. Therefore we are very sorry to tell you that perhaps you have confused some pinch of mosquito with the bed bags, much more that at the check out you not made mention of this problem to the receptionist. You asks us a reimbursement ..... but we believe that you have no right to have it. The Hotel Manager

I was astonished when walked inside of this hotel. The interior space was filled with elegant furnitures and decorations which are of antique styles (they might be real antiques). The room we had was big, which had a corridor. We walked through the corridor to reach our bedroom. It was very clean everywhere. The room in the winter was not warm enough but I still felt cozy after I was covered with comforter. The breakfast was plentiful. They don't have elevator but hotel staff will help to carry the luggage to the second floor. It was a unique and fantastic experience.

Very close to a little park for kids, teens and families. It’s about fifteen to twenty minutes walking to the Piazza della signora and the Duomo. The room I had was right next to the garden and was by far the most charming room I have ever stayed in. The hotel staff were so polite and friendly and the food was also great. Definitely worth a try.

Confirm parking availability before you book.
One of the biggest reasons we booked was the parking availability and walkability. However, when we arrived, they said their parking lot was full. We had to wait until the ZTL allowed us to drive into the area (after 4pm) and find street parking. It got us off to a stalled trip, but we were able to find good street parking and we didn't get a ticket. Overall, the room was nice and the breakfast was fine. I'd probably look around at different hotels if we visit Florence again, but wouldn't rule out staying here... pending parking availability of course. If parking is not an issue for you, it's a fine hotel to stay at.

Well placed hotel to visit the centre sights. Lovely restaurant at the end of the road. Hotel in a quieter spot but after a day of sightseeing crowds it was needed. Staff helpful and friendly.

BED BUGS!!!!
My daughter was attacked by bedbugs. It was awful and affected our entire trip to Italy. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The hotel restaurants dishes and silverware were dirty and the breakfast was dreadful. Big thumbs down.

Jo Jo was evcellent, but other staff was very stiff. They would not go out of their way to be friendly or helpful. Never rude, but no personality or charisma. Jo Jo went out of his way to make our stay wonderful and filled out a mao showing us the best restaurants and sights Bed was harder than i am used to, and fireplace must be used in the winter, because we could smell remnants. Rooms are older, but charming and clean. They are also pretty sizable. Dont take this as a bad review. This hotel is nice. I am not sure, but I think the culture is one that waits, out of respect, before being helpful or polite. Thanks JoJo for helping us enjoy our stay!

Awesome experience !
I really had a great experience at the Hotel Villa Liana. I found the hotel front desk manager - Leart ...very helpful and going the extra mile to make the stay comfortable. I was allowed an early check in ...instead of sticking to the rule of check in only by 2pm. The fact that he did it with a smile...and had the room totally ready...made the tiredness of my journey just disappear in seconds.. The location of the hotel is great and just walking distance from the city centre. Would totally recommend the hotel to anybody who is looking for good service / good location and value for money.

Convenient walking location from all of the major attractions in Florence !!! The Hotel is very, very charming, the rooms are well appointed, the breakfast dinning facilities are sophisticated and a very satisfying hotel. The owner / manager is a warm, elegant and charming woman, with hands on management. And Concierge Learte is an extremely friendly, welcomy and knowledgeable person. A great hotel for the money !
