"Room had everything we needed and was a perfect spot to stop and refresh ourselves after Tokyo. There were lots of thoughtful touches and amenities, the hot spring was perfect and the Fuji views were incredible. Lots of nice goodies in the fridge too and a good location to explore the Hakone area."

"The location is beautiful, amazing views but the hotel is a bit old. We went to Hakone to relax and spend a night enjoying the onsen but we weren’t unable to get in due to having tattoos something that the website should have in more details instead of having it in the small print. The tv was only in Japanese so we couldn’t watch tv. The elevator was not working we had to carry 3 luggage down 3 floors and the sign on it was only in Japanese and I touch the bottom an it shocked me. I was very excited to stay but I was kind of disappointed. "

"The front of the house is behind its parking lot and hidden behind the front yard fence, so it took us a while to locate the house. The mountain road is narrow to drive, so we first parked at the public parking lot a few blocks and walked around the neighborhood to find the house. Front yard is nicely lit and maintained. Apartment facilities are a bit old but sufficient for our family of 4. We liked that there are 2 washrooms."

"Fabulous beautiful location by the lake, convenient to public transport and easy views of Mount Fuji. It’s a brand new hotel with many amenities, good size room, exceptionally attentive staff plus the owner is incredibly nice and offers all kinds of tours. They also have vilas with private Onsen which we definitely will try next time! "

"In a country where the hotel staff provides impeccable service, this hotel falls short. The front desk had no manners and appeared annoyed by any requests. The hotel itself is in a great location and my room view was of the lake and Mt Fuji beyond."

"Hotel de Yama was great. This place has a real mountain lodge feel to it. It is remote and very quiet but within a mile of fun activities. It was the perfect lay-over between the hustle and bustle of Kyoto and the hugeness of Tokyo. The rooms were nice. The restaurants were both great. The grounds were amazing, especially the garden. The staff was super helpful. And the onsen was next level - so relaxing. Would come back to this place in a heartbeat"
