Browse the market stalls for souvenirs and clothes among punks and rockers in an area renowned for its alternative culture and eclectic nightlife.

Camden Town is a famous market place and meeting point for travellers, locals and alternative groups. It is simultaneously a mainstream area for tourists and a hotspot of tattoo parlors, heavy metal stores and a general unconventional ambience. There are several assemblies of market stalls scattered around the region and a picturesque canal lined with restaurants and coffee shops. In the evening, revellers congregate around the main strip of bars. There are many typical English pubs with live rock music and nightclubs playing a variety of genres.

Look around the market stalls in the different zones around Camden Town. Purchase souvenirs of your trip to London and gifts for friends back home. Experience a darker side of the city in loud heavy metal shops and tattoo parlors.

Sip a cup of coffee at one of the shops along the scenic canal and people-watch. Many alternative locals frequent the markets in studded leather jackets, multicolored hair and extravagant boots.

Enjoy free samples of food as you walk through the market stalls. Vendors offer an array of delicacies, including Chinese, Thai and Indian food. Visit a pub for traditional English food, such as sausages and mash or fish and chips.

Make your way to the bars at night to listen to live music and try the local ales. The eclectic range of bars along the strip caters to everyone, whether you like pop, heavy metal or even salsa. There is a generally inclusive and progressive vibe in Camden Town.

The markets first became popular in the 1970s. Although there were originally a lot of stalls selling fresh food and produce, they have gradually been replaced by vendors catering to visitors to the city.

You can find Camden Town in the borough of Camden in the north of London. It is on the Northern Line of the tube and there are many buses that run through day and night.
