The hotel itself was nice. It's right by the water. The pool is in an awkward spot right under the noses of people dining in the hotel restaurant, but it's a nice view for people at the restaurant when no one's in the pool. The restaurant was mediocre, not bad but not great. People who like comfort food will probably like it. The service at the hotel was great. I have two main gripes about this hotel that will prevent me from coming back. #1. Parking is unnecessarily expensive. This is a small town in Hawaii, not Boston or Los Angeles. You don't need to charge your guests to park onsite. Do have a system to make sure only guests park there, and maybe charge others if there is demand, but it's unfair and weird to de-incentivize people to park onsite. Everyone is going to have a car, you can't do anything in Hawaii without a car. It's not NYC. I went to another hotel after this in Kauai, and they had *free valet.* #2. The bathrooms were open. Now I don't know if this is true in all the rooms, there was another building and we didn't stay long enough to try requesting another room, but there's a large window on one side of the bathroom looking into the bedroom. So anyone standing in the middle of the bedroom can look in at someone using the toilet or showering. It's a horrible setup. I bet they think people want to look at the ocean when showering or something. No, we can see the ocean afterwards, we just want to use the bathroom in peace. Oh and also the door didn't lock.
