We absolutely loved our stay at the Timbercutter's cottage. We loved quietly sitting looking over the organic vineyards, walking around the property with the dogs, cooking on the wood BBQ and eating at the picnic table under the stars, and going to sleep in complete darkness! Wollombi is just down the road and also beautiful. The wine provided for purchase in the cottage was absolutely delicious - our tasting at another organic winery did not match it at all! Phillippa is an absolutely gorgeous...

It was a beautiful retreat indeed, we truely enjoyed our stay and the team were responsive and welcoming. We had a small issue during our stay and they resolved it promptly, we were very impressed with the outcome. If you are a coffee lover, there is a cafe catering your morning craves :) we saw many hot air balloons on the sky from our balcony, can’t get better than this! Highly recommended to everyone, we are planning for our next visit already with friends and family.

The Vine Valley Inn is a great place to stay. In the middle of Cessnock CBD, it offers a very pleasant and personalised atmosphere with friendly and helpful staff, rooms which break the usual sterile motel mould, very comfortable beds and lots of bonus provisions such as lounge and eating area. It was quiet, parking was easy and free, and the shower was excellent. What more could you wish for? Reasonable rates? You have them!

Not what i had expected in mind ,judging by the photos on the internet . The reception table should be tiled with a nice tile feature wall to reflect the contemporary look of the hotel. Judging by the photo of the reception area i was at first reluctant to make the booking. That's why when we entered the room it came as a surprise to how modern the hotel was.
The overall experience of the hotel being centrally located to all amenities is the selling point for me as my choice for future...

The manager was very helpful. As I had advised her that I would be arriving very late on a night that turned out to be cold and wet, she turned on the air conditioning and the porch light for me before I arrived. The room was surprisingly spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and well lit. The kitchenette was well stocked with utensils and very functional. Generous breakfast supplies (a range of cereals, bread, butter, vegemite, jams, orange juice, milk, yoghurt,...

When is the best time to go to Paxton?
The best time to visit Paxton is during the autumn (March to May) and spring (September to November) months.
During autumn, the weather is pleasantly mild, with clear skies and comfortable temperatures, superb for exploring the vineyards and enjoying outdoor activities without the intense heat of summer. The grape harvest usually takes place in late summer to early autumn, so you might catch some of the vineyard activity if you visit in March.
Spring also offers delightful weather, with warm days and cool evenings. This time of year sees the vineyards and surrounding countryside burst into bloom, making it a very picturesque period for a visit. It's an excellent time for wine tasting tours, bushwalking, and enjoying the natural beauty of the Hunter Valley.
While summer (December to February) can be hot, it's still a popular time for visitors who don't mind the heat, especially around the Christmas and New Year period. Winter (June to August) is cooler, with crisp days and chilly nights, which can be lovely for cosy evenings by a fireplace with a glass of local wine.
