Ocean Beach Home In The Heart Of Authentic Old Hawaii

"Everything was absolutely perfect! Greg was very attentive to anything we needed and making sure our stay was perfect. The home is as beautiful as you can imagine and directly across from the beach. My wife and I could not say enough about how perfect everything was for us and we will most definitely plan to stay here in the future. Mahalo!"

Private, ocean front home with private pool, Amazing place!

"The home was exactly what we expected based on the pictures in the listing. We loved having our own little pool to dip in and out of and the numerous seating options let us have sun or shade inside or out, whatever we wanted. The kitchen was well-stocked and since we stopped at Costco and Safeway before arriving, we hardly needed to leave...and one day we didn't! The bed is luxuriously soft and we slept until the sun came up and the birds woke us with their music. The outside shower was great for a rinse after the pool. The sea wall was wonderful for fish watching. Dan was a great host, super responsive when we had a (now remedied) internet issue. The remoteness of the house is both the beauty and the bane. It's wonderful to be away from everything in a quiet neighborhood, but do be aware that "away" is a good 30 minute drive up and and another 30 minutes back down a winding, narrow road. That said, we were closer to the erupting volcano (Yay!) and the south of the island. Our week was restorative and peaceful, just what we wanted."

"Beautiful property with a very responsive host; unfortunately, not very clean.My daughter and I thought the house is lovely, and the setting with the fruit trees and views of the ocean in the distance was delightful.For the nightly price of this house, one expects basic level of cleanliness, but we found dusty areas in the bathroom, staircase, and even bedside lamps that we could not avoid touching. Many of the dishes and mugs we took out from the cabinets were dirty and the pots and pans were a jumble in one cabinet. Other places we have stayed at in this price range also provide body wash, shampoo, hand wash but this property does not. If we had been prepared for this, it may have been less disappointing.Overall, we enjoyed our stay because of the large windows, lovely views, fruit trees, very responsive host, and the ability to bring our dog."

Kona Coast Original Beach Boys 9.5 acre Estate, Pool and Amazing Ocean Views

"Magical is how I would describe The Beach Boys Estate. The vibrations are good. On a clear day you can see the curve of the earth and if you like tropical rainstorms, the afternoon and early evening can be delightful. And it is cooler than down by the water.The kitchen has all of the cooking utensils needed, plus more... the basic spices and oils... and Guy, our host, is perfect. He is there when you have questions or need him, and you never see him when you don't. The Beach Boys Estate is like a resort without all the people. We loved it and hope to return one day."

"Customers need to be warned that this isn't a hotel and the room wasn't really a room, but rather a screened-in porch. There were no windows to close - only screens. There was no shower, but rather a bathtub where people from the outside could see anyone in the tub. The bathroom sink was actually a kitchen sink that came with cockroaches. The bed was in very bad condition, sinking in the middle. There was poor lighting, no air conditioning, and nearly deafening noise from frogs outside. When we arrived, it was completely dark and to reach our room, you were required to climb a steep hill/driveway. The breakfast consisted of some cut up fruit, wheat bread, oatmeal, and coffee. The owner was friendly, trying to be accomodating and helpful."

RELAXING, Away-from-it-All home on the water with small Natural Pool

"We wish that we had had more time to take advantage of this lovely home with the amazing views and a small, cozy natural pool. We spent so much time exploring the amazing “Big Island” that we ran out of time! The house was wonderful and we truly felt that we were living the Hawaii life. No AC-no problem with the many fans and ocean breezes. If we ever have the chance to go back, we would definitely stay at Carl and Deb’s Hale. The large kitchen had all we needed and more, to include the pet gecko. We had no idea exactly what the location would be like before we went, but quickly got used to roads and switchbacks. It was like a carnival ride by the end of our too short week and the best part were the spectacular views going up and down . Beds were comfy and the wrap around porch was amazing. Travel time to the National Park wasn’t bad at all. It was about 1 1/2 hours but with the landscape views it goes my quickly. It takes about 15-20 minutes from the house to get up the hill to the main road but again, it was no problem. Next time we go back we want to just stay at the hale and relax, watch the marine life swim by, and the green flash as the sun sets over the horizon. BTW - if you do visit the island, check out the Shaka Guide. We did all 5 of the island tours and found them all very informative and helpful. In closing, we loved this home! "
