This hotel was an easy walk from the Florence train station. It was quite walkable to see "The David" and bus tours to Tuscany were leaving daily from the nearby train station.

We love staying at this property when we visit Munich and have a few times before. However, the plumbing was a bit of an issue this time. The bathroom had a terrible smell every time anything was used as the piping needs to be replaced or cleaned out. Other then that, the room was always cleaned nicely and the staff is amazing.

We were sceptical to book a room here as reviews are a bit mixed for the Mercure in Florence however our stay was fantastic. All staff provided exceptional service and Sabrina in particular was a delight to deal with. We were fortunate enough to receive an upgrade and our room was spacious with a comfortable bed, decent size bathroom with lovely Nuxe complimentary toiletries. Breakfast was fantastic, with continental options including pastries, cereal, cold meats, cheeses, spreads etc and a small bain-marie with scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages. Fresh coffee available on request too. A wonderful and very memorable stay. Thank you to all the staff for their gracious hospitality.

The hotel is just 5 min walk from SMN main train station. Hotel building used to be a theatre. Many restaurants nearby. Walking distance to all tourist spots. Hotel room is very clean with AC and minibar which is very handy in hot summer months. Will stay again. Thanks.

Great location. But Beds gives back pain =(
Mercure is a good choice on location. Near to the train station, buses, trams. They are literally a stone throw a way. Mcdonalds, Mercato Centrale, good restaurants, the Duomo , Cathedral are all so accessible. But you could say that thats the only thing really good at it. Rooms are modern , good. But the bed is not good. You dont feel it at first but I woke up with a sharp pain in my back . I was so surprised! We stayed there 6 nights. I think it was only after 3 nights that I realized its the bed. I guess it is up for change. I noticed it only when I saw the bed lumping down … the beddings are okay. Also since there was a hail the day we arrive, it destroyed the AC, so we didnt have AC until the last night. The hotel can’t do anything about it. And well , we were given the concession of free breakfast which we only partook 3 times. Out of the 6 nights we were there. So yes to location. No to comfort, Room size is okay. Chiara was a great help in suggesting the Piazza Michelangelo to have a city view. Francesca is also helpful in sharing the way to the sights, helping us with the taxis . But sadly, our experience, was not really good in the hotel. Such a sad experience. I guess you could say the bed made it my worst experience in my travel history. No more Mercure for us. They do not have standards on their bed’s comfort. This to me is absolutely important as travelers need to rest their laurels and did not pay to get back pain.

Average chain hotel - practical for the station.
Good location near the station - main tourist attractions are within a 15 minute walk. The safe and the fridge in the room both didn’t work. Standard chain hotel - clean and you know what are getting.

Excellent hotel. One and half blocks from Santa Maria Novella train station. Very spacious room, clean, modern, mattress, pillows, sheets were very comfortable, big screen T.V. Excellent shower and complementaries. My room was very quiet. The “Privilege Rooms” have the mini bar consumption; free. Excellent attention from all attendants at the hotel.

Room was 403. Faced stair well. The rating is saved by the great location. Hôtel Is newly renovated however rooms have a few issues-carpet was dirty, the hotel steam cleaned while we were out for the day. A few design issues-the tap-spout on the sink doesn’t reach the middle of the basin and water spills over. The shower leaked badly. We could see that previous work had been done. Beds way too hard for North Americans. Still a great location to be able to walk to all central attractions.

Our keys kept not working so we had to go all the way down each time from the 5th floor…. Their iron ruined a shirt of ours, and they couldn’t provide us with water! No drinking water so we had to rush out at midnight and buy some. Very frustrating !! The girls at the front were much more friendly than the gentlemen.

Disaster
This was a very disappointing experience. We were given a room on the first floor that smelled awful, had filthy carpet and sofa, a bathroom door that didn’t lock without a fight, and a shower that didn’t drain. After encountering all of these faults, we finally approached the desk and were happy to have been switched yo another room that was quite the opposite. Thankfully this made our stay more comfortable. Sadly, we cannot look past the experience from the first room we were given and hope the hotel doesn’t make a habit of assigning people to rooms in these conditions.

Our room carpet is full of stains, shower room design was lousy ,water keep leaking out make the bathroom floor always wet after shower. Whole hotel only have one iron, if you need to use must bring your clothing down to reception iron.

Decent 4 star hotel near the train station
The hotel is clean and welcoming, and is very close to the train station, Santa Maria Novella, about 5 minutes walk. As mentioned by previous guest, the walkway outside hotel are full of graffiti, but once you step inside it is very clean and nice. The rooms are large and the beds are comfortable. The pillows could be abit better though. Overall decent 4star hotel.
