"The staff were warm and inviting, especially the proprietor Simon. The room was tidy and clean. The best was the 14th Century building with a carriageway entrance for a front door and nary a straight line or level floor board to be found. This is a rare gem. And, strange for such an old building, the best shower in all of Cornwall (hot and high pressure). I got to sample the new Indian cuisine that could soon be available at the hotel. I hope so. It’s excellent!"

"Quiet, spaceous room which was very clean. The pub served delicious food and there is a fabulous little cafe next door. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back when visiting family again. Exceptional value for money with a good breakfast included. Only slight niggle is that the pillows were thin and not supportive. One is not enough and two is too much. Perhaps they could invest in firmer support pillows and the score for this hidden gem would be 10/10."

"The Seagate was on the estuary in lovely Appledore. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We stayed here before and after a trip to Lundy. The first night was in room7 which was spacious and you could just about see the sea. The second night in room 9 which had a completely frosted window and was small. The pub food was good. I particularly liked the ceasar salad . Would return."

"The property was perfect for two families to enjoy a New Year break in Cornwall. Despite some wet and wild weather we had a fabulous time thanks to the spacious, modern, well equipped and comfortable property that had everything we needed and was ideal for our group of adults, teens, younger children & dogs. "Adorable and quirky little house, oozing with character. Comfy beds, great location for local shops and restaurants, and as a base to explore the area. Only slight negative for us was getting used to town noises as we live in a village. The Combat Collection at Cobatton, and Instow beach (both recommended by the host) are worth a visit, and my boys (16 & 14) loved outdoor laser tag at Survival Combat Games."
