We really enjoyed the stay and the place, we recommend it! Easy access, quiet, clean, there was everything we needed in the kitchen, very organized, and loved the chickens that live there. As downsides, there was one time during a storm when it started to rain a bit inside the building. Also, a portion of the back of the wardrobe in our room was broken so we could see into the hallway. And lastly, after the storm, the front door code pad stopped working so we had to use the side doors.

We had fun feeding the chickens and the best part was… we can eat the eggs! House is super clean. Room is comfy. They have a toilet and bathroom on each level, so you don’t share with so many people. And it also located in the city centre. Easy to walk everywhere. Great facilities and well designed. Really recommended.

Other guests were very noisy in the kitchen and lounge area,footsteps on wooden floors and stairs were overly troublesome.

Fantastic property, everything clean and comfortable. Convenient location. Extremely comfortable beds. Only criticism was no tv in house - TVs in buildings outside doesn’t suit everyone.

Great location
A fantastic place to stay close to central Bendigo. Room was spacious, kitchen well stocked and bathroom modern and clean. VERY noisy to sleep in Room 5 as evaporative cooler system on roof is located meters from this second story bedroom’s window. Even with earplugs we could feel the vibration and hear the motor. Tried unsuccessfully to negotiate with other guests to turn off cooling system over night. I would stay here again but not in this room in warm weather.

Hi Karen. Thanks so much for your positive review of Stay Social. Sorry to hear of the noisy AC which yes is close to that room. We have not had this issue raised in our 3.5 years of operation. We imagine it rare that the AC would be run through the night. Yes do suggest you book a different room in hot weather and we will also see what we can do re: further sound proofing. Thanks. Our 3 year old had great fun stroking the chickens and looking for eggs in the charming garden and hobby area and playing with the provided toys or going over to the shady play ground nearby. We were very impressed by the standards of the kitchen and the fridge stocked with home grown eggs. Close-by we also enjoyed some unusual variations on hamburgers (we lucked on hamburger night when all the burgers were nearly half price!) and some lovely home made deserts at the local pub.

NICE LOCATON,CLEAN AND WITH MANY FACILITIES WHICH WOULD BE A BOON TO FAMILIES, IN PARTICLAR WE LIKED THE CHICKENS,AND OUTDOOR AREA,WHICH UNFORTUANATLY WE DID NOT HAVE TIME TO UTILISE. THE CONCEPT IS FAR BETTER THAN A MOTEL, AND WE WOULD CHOOSE TO STAY AGAIN ON ANOTHER OCCASION

Bathrooms too small
Don't stay in room 1 it is next to the external door so you hear everyone who goes through it. Also the bathromm is tiny.

Hi Leslie - Thanks for your review. If is really interesting the different views of people. Our most regular guest always prefers to stay in Room 1 and we have never had a complaint about front door noise. We intentionally separated each shower and toilet and added a vanity so that guests had greatest accessibility. They are not huge but not tiny either. Great place to stay while visiting for work.
I had a four week contract to work in Bendigo. I decided to stay during the week rather than commute from Melbourne by car or train which would have required three or four hours travel each day. I found StaySocial on the web and saw that it was an easy walk from the Bendigio railway station, my workplace and from the main Bendigio shopping areas. I stayed in rooms which were clean, warm and comfortable with en-suite bathrooms. The communal kitchen was well stocked and equipped and the lounge and dining areas were comfortable and good for socialising with other guests. StaySocial has no staff on site but simple email instructions gave me secure access to the building and to my room. When I wanted to discuss bookings the StaySocial owner was just a phone call away. I will stay at StaySocial again if I visit Bendigo for business or private reasons.

First time
As an interstate mum I wanted to stay somewhere for a few days while visiting my daughter at Uni. This place was perfect. We spent some quality time together and had a home away from home experience. Bikes were a fantastic way for us both to enjoy this beautiful city. i will be back and may even bring along the rest of the family!

Great dorm-style house.
Everything was clean and my stay was well organised. About 10mins walk to the centre of Bendigo, and only a few mins to the local pub. Would highly recommend for families and groups.

In Bendigo for the weekend to just get away from things at home. Lots to do and see. I could walk to the CBD from the house. Everything about the house spoke of generosity and welcome. Facilities, living space, gardens, pantry staples and of course the accommodation was top quality and very comfortable. Highly recommend the place. I think it would be great for families getting together from different places to celebrate some occasion.

Comfortable and within walking distance to CBD
Located less an a kilometre from town, I was able to leave the car parked outside the house and walk in. It was less than 10 mins walk to the Deborah mine - which is also where the tram line starts! The house itself is just lovely. As soon as you walk in (after figuring out the electronic lock!) it just *feels* like home. A whole shelf in the fridge and a whole shelf in the cupboard - and commonly used things like margarine and jam already available - made self catering a breeze. The kitchen is huge, and has plenty of bench space. The common toilet and shower downstairs are definitely not flush with space though. The air/vent system is programmed automatically - though I found it a little noisy at night. The unit itself wasn't loud - it's just always 'on'. (But I'm not used to ducted / central air systems - maybe this was normal?) There were two washing machines but no dryer.... so I had to plan my washing day day to be a sunny one - fortunately that worked out ok for me. The separate Sunroom with its own kitchenette and separate toilet was a nice feature, though I would have preferred a TV in the main house also. If you are looking for affordable self-catered accommodation, and/or somewhere close to the CBD, then you should consider this place.

Rm 7 was lovely with evaporative cooling and a balcony overlooking the garden There are no televisions in the rooms or main living area Could not get the jets working in the spa bath Very clean Spacious well equipped kitchen Quiet and relaxing

Hotel ohne Personal. Superspitzenklasse
Eine wunderbare und neue Erfahrung, dass in einem "Hotel" niemand da ist. Man bekommt per Mail oder Telefon einen Zugangscode zur Haustuere und zur Zimmertuere und kann damit das ganze Haus benutzen. Grosse Kueche mit allem was man braucht, angefangen mit dreierlei Sorten Milch, Kaffeee, Tee, Zucker, Marmelade, Butter usw. Mit dem Zugangscode kann man auch einen Fahradschuppen aufsperren und sich ein Fahrrad ausleihen. Waschmaschine und Trockner koennen kostenlos benutzt werden. Wir waren von unserem Aufenthalt restlos begeistert.
