This hotel offered excellent value for money, particularly compared with other accommodation in the same area. The location was perfect, with plenty of shops, cafés, and local places to visit only a short walk away.
The check-in process was seamless, and the lady at reception was incredibly friendly and welcoming. She even allowed us to check in half an hour early, which we really appreciated.
The room was spacious and generally very clean. There was air conditioning in both the bedroom and the main living area, which was especially useful for heating the room as the weather was particularly cold during our stay. The bed was extremely comfortable, and I had some of the best sleep I have had in a long time. The balcony also had a lovely view of the mountains.
A generous range of complimentary essentials was provided, including shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand soap, dishwasher tablets, and washing-up liquid.
There were a few minor signs of wear and tear, including some marks on the walls and areas of the ceiling that could benefit from maintenance. However, considering the affordable price, these were not significant issues and did not negatively affect our stay.
Overall, this was a comfortable, welcoming, and conveniently located place to stay. It provided excellent value for money, and I would happily stay here again.

The lady on the reception desk was very helpful finding us a car park on a busy night.
We didn’t have a large enough saucepan to cook pasta in.
We had difficulty turning the hot plates on and were unable to find a manual to show us how.
The top of the toilet brush in the main toilet was broken (in room 304)

Our room was good with a very comfortable bed but the air conditioning was noisy. We were diasppointed with our breakfast as we were assigned a table which had been given to somebody else by the time we got back with food leaving us standing with nowhere to go. Also when I pointed out there was no glasses for juice I was snapped at by a staff member. So we will not be coming back to the Amora Hotel.

Beautiful historic property with friendly staff and located in walking distance of major attractions. High-ceilings and sweeping windows/curtains make the rooms feel very spacious. Great price and quiet/peaceful as well. Would come back!

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel overall. The pool and jacuzzi were great, although the lack of bathroom facilities in the pool area was a little inconvenient.
One thing to be aware of is that parking is not included with your booking. Valet parking is around $60 per day. The nearest public car park is about a 5-minute walk away and costs approximately $30 per day, but it does not allow unlimited entry and exit, so you’ll be charged again each time you leave and return. If you’re planning to visit South Bank, an Uber costs around $17 each way.
The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. A lovely surprise was receiving a complimentary piece of cake for our son, who celebrated his birthday during our stay. It was a thoughtful gesture that we really appreciated. The room service team was also excellent.
The only downside was that there was just one staff member at reception during both check-in and check-out, which resulted in long waits. We had to wait quite a while to check out because the same staff member was also assisting guests checking in. This appeared to be a staffing issue rather than the fault of the employee, who remained professional and helpful.
A real bonus is the hotel’s convenient walking distance to Howard Smith Wharves, making it easy to enjoy the restaurants and riverside atmosphere.
