Pros - Located well close to relatively new Shenzhen area. - Only 7 mins distance to "Windows of the world" theme park with taxi - Quite large room Cons - Very strong smoking smell in a non smoking room as well as the aisle. Smell even affected the bed and pillows. Mould around bathroom area. - Should have staffs with fluent english. This will be very useful.

Nice hotel
The hotel was located very close to my office and was a comfortable walk of just 500+m. The walk back and forth to work place was not nice as I had to walk past a public toilet which was very badly stinking all the time. The hotel and its services was nice. I don't smoke, and dont like smoke smell. I could smell smoke as soon as I entered my floor. That was bad, once I entered my room, it was very nice. Breakfast was good. Very few staff members in the hotel and their restaurant speak english. That was a little problem but managed it nonetheless. Overall the hotel was good and I will surely stay in the same hotel if I happen to visit Shenzhen for work.

Only problem was the very noisy construction which sometimes continued all night. Not the fault of the hotel. The hotel changed my room at one stage to avoid the worst of the noise. Local area perfect for my business but the construction was very disruptive

OK hotel in a dull area
The room smelled a bit of smoke. Breakfast was fine. Some of the furniture had holes from cigarette burns. Otherwise the place is OK, especially if you have business in the hi-tech area. I would not have stayed here otehrwise because the area is quite boring.

The Lia Charlton is a clean, reliable hotel and I stay there often when in Shenzhen. It is a very good value for the money.

The room is clean and spacious. Hotel staff are helpful. However, have to walk quite a distance from the nearest subway station to the hotel and the passage is quiet, hardly to meet other passengers ..... scary especially at night.

Had a short 4 night stay with breakfast; check-in and out hassle free, staff attentive and helpful, breakfast had plenty of choice (Asian and Western alike) would recommend to family and friends... BTW the location at Hi-Tech Park was within easy walking distance and on the main line for the airport + Luohu (Line 1)

Good hotel which could really stand out
The hotel looks like one that was built for a grand scale and to be up market. It would have been great to see that translate a little more into the overall condition and experience at the hotel. Not having 24 food is a real bummer when you arrive at midnight as there is nothing walking distance from the hotel as a substitute. The minibar was empty. Bathroom condition although clean could be improved with even small improvements as it feels dated. The massage room is 24 hours, but seemed to just be big as opposed to being quality. Main massage area had at least 30-40 seats! Both time I visited, me and my friend were the only two people in there. Chinese restaurant on the 3rd floor served very good food, definitely a standout.

Misleading picture and facilities. No real bar.
Not sure whose at fault. Some of the pictures on Hotel.com do not match with the Hotel. It’s states that there are two bars and restaurants and there are not two bars or at least it’s not as per the pictures shown as apparently that was 3 plus years ago. The so called rooftop pool bar is not open either. The location is a problem to get taxis and when I asked the concierge to organise a taxi he actually said no to start with and a little argumentative, what he should have said was that yes he could order but it would take 25-30 minutes as busy, which I would have accepted but I only speak English so Hotel needs to make improvements to cater for Westerners. It’s teally comfortable rooms so it’s okay if you happy to wait for transport but not really any decent facilities in walking distance.

I have booked a room in the non-smoking floor but the room still has very strong sense of smoke. The bathroom shower has a lot of mold and the tables are full of dust. Overall cleanliness was unsatisfactory. However, the customer service is quite nice. The response really quick to all to all the calls and response really quickly. The area is quite quiet or at least during the weekend and it's quite easy to get good take away food nearby.

If Your working in the area then this would be a convenient hotel otherwise it’s not close to the metro,restaurants,shopping anything really. The Korean spa gives a great foot massage definitely get one at the end of a busy day. Rooms are big and clean.

The hotel room was comfortable, clean and good for a week of business trip. Its 10-15 min walk from the closest metro station, if you catch the metro you can get to the shopping and attractions easily. Cons - The communication was very hard with few folks at the hotel and due to which I couldn't get few things that I wanted. I had trouble during billing, since they weren't familiar with a forex travel card and treated it like a credit card. Causing me much trouble during my check out and wish it was more smoother process. There are no restaurants near this place and you dont have much good options. I had issues with wifi also, connections was not as efficient between the lower and upper levels

Good hotel, only problems were that the air conditioning did not work very well and the "aroma machines" in the lobby were horrible - these devices make it hard to breathe and give me a migraine headache. Good business area, hotel was close to facility we were visiting. Excellent helpful staff. Very good food.

Happy Surprise
My wife and I made a last minute decision to stay in Shenzhen for a night during a major Chinese national holiday. To our surprise, we got a fantastic deal even though we were unfamiliar with the area and hotel itself. When we arrived, we were happy to have been greeted by friendly staff and were quickly shown to our room. The room itself was very comfortable and large for the price we paid. The only downside was that the hotel did not have a swimming pool, but everything else we experienced was beyond what we expected. We will definitely stay here again during our next trip to Shenzhen. Thank you.

The hotel is well located close to the border crossing to and from HK. The hotel entrance was hard to find. Several taxis had hard time finding the entrance. The room was large, closet space was very tight. The hotel was not able to exchange currency for its guests and that created a problem. Trying to change money at the bank next door was very complicated for a traveler that did not understand Chinese.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I was impressed with the room size. It was clean and new. The restaurant within the hotel was good as well, and there is a 24 hour KFC not far from the hotel. Lots of tech companies around, great for my business trip there.

Nice room but have no Chinese tea, stuff only for single, even I ordered 2 person. The staff are polite but not so effective and make some mistake (just like the breakfast arrangement)

Hotel is located in a quiet part of Shenzhen, surrounded by offices. It is very quiet at night. I did find some hawker food stalls at the back of the hotel at night. Service was really just minimal. Service from the day staff was significantly better than the night staff. It's a rather new hotel and some taxi drivers were not familiar, so bring along a hotel card when you go out. I am not impressed by the hotel and I don't think I will ever return back again.
