"Resort is undergoing some upgrades atm to cope with the expected influx of school holiday travelers, The rebuilt children's splash zone will be a treat once completed and the kitchen is in the process of being refit as well. Staff and management are great and a pleasure to communicate with. Prices for food and drinks are on par with town center so if you do not wish to travel there is that option, also there is a supermarket next door with ATM's on the outside of the building. Erakor Island Resort & Spa

10/10 Excellent

"We stayed 5 nights. Loved the island and easy to get to and from on the boat. 3 minute ride. From there a 5 min walk to main road where you can catch a taxi bus to port vila 10 mins away.we stayed in the ocean view rooms which are brand new and more being built. Spacious in design and facing west. The resort is not new but well managed. Enjoyed our stay. Very laid back experience"

Poppys On The Lagoon

8/10 Good

"There were some disparaging comments left previously which didn’t put us off, so let’s address them. Dates: it is a little dated, if you’re expecting a “resort” like the Ramada, it’s not for you. It’s a well maintained family style resort where the staff are fantastic. The breakfast (delivered to your room) is a little different but perfectly adequate for your needs. It’s different but very enjoyable with the staff the absolute high point"

Iririki Island Resort & Spa

8/10 Good

"Liked the options for pools and snorkelling. Rooms are a bit tired and need some maintenance but wasnt expecting perfection. Boat to the mainland is very convenient. Main negative was the fact that we were sent an early bird special link to book massages and experiences, so we did but then when on the island they tried to charge full price. It took 3 separate conversations on 2 days to have the prices corrected. This took time from our holiday. An idea is also to put a small bar at the beach area and snorkellers Cove, so that more people will stay to enjoy for longer periods. Even if its just beer wine and soft drink and no cocktails. Island is quite hilly so not very suited to those with mobility concerns. No options for buggy transport either, saw some elderly people struggling. Overall, a good stay, staff were lovely, but some room for improvement."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Onesua?

The best area to stay in Onesua is along the coastline near the main resorts, particularly around the Funafo area.

This area is known for its beautiful beaches and direct access to the ocean, making it great for those seeking a relaxing holiday with stunning views. You'll find a selection of well-appointed resorts scattered along the shore, offering a range of facilities.

Couples often find this area ideal for a romantic getaway. The resorts here typically offer private bungalows, beachfront dining, and opportunities for water activities like snorkelling or paddleboarding directly from the property. The focus is on tranquillity and natural beauty.

For families, staying in this coastal strip is also a convenient choice.

When is the best time to go to Onesua?

The best time to visit Onesua is during the dry season, which typically runs from April to October. This period offers the most pleasant weather for exploring the island.

During these months, you can expect less rainfall, lower humidity, and comfortably warm temperatures, usually around 25-28 degrees Celsius. This makes it ideal for outdoor activities like snorkelling, diving, and hiking to scenic spots. The calmer seas also make boat trips and transfers smoother.

For those looking to enjoy the island's natural beauty and water activities without interruption, the dry season is definitely preferable.
