The Melanesian is a long-standing feature of the Port Vila accommodation scene and it's very well-priced. The Orchid Rooms are very pleasant but they all face onto the pool area. So you will want to have the windows shut if the music played at the bar and people's conversations bother you. The AC unit in my room did an OK job with keeping the room comfortable even with windows shut. The rooms have a good desk and small table for people needing to do work while there. The included breakfast covers all the expected bases – a small range of fresh fruit, toast, fresh breads, cereals and cooked breakfast options for extra charge.

We were only here for a night, so probably can’t give the most well-rounded review. In summary, it was fine. The staff were really friendly and super helpful. The room and general building was fine, clean, but generally looking a bit tired. This could be partly due to nearby construction and a significant earthquake last year. The AC worked really well, however the water supply cut out for a period early in the morning.

I loved the spacious apartment and the private balconies, the aircon and the TV worked well. The chef at casa Mia was good. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. There was no fresh milk in the fridge for a cup of tea but when I asked for some it was brought to me by a young man who went to some trouble to get it.

Great place to stay!

Everything worked like clockwork. We left some of our luggage 1 week ahead of our stay as we were flying to other islands and there were restrictions on the amount of luggage. The Melanesian hotel allowed us to store our luggage until our arrival! That’s great customer service. The room was clean, large, and comfortable!
