"We stayed for 9 nights and there was not a day without some kind of mistake or misunderstanding. The staff is very very polite and friendly, but they lack professionalism and training. Some servers in the restaurants don’t speak very good English, so that can be an area of improvement. The overall impression is that the whole operation is out of tune. Strong management and review of all aspects of operations is recommended. Alila is not on par with the rest of the Mayakoba hotels."

"The property is huge and beautiful but the customer service sucks! The staff is terrible and there isn’t enough workers. You are bomb-rushed by the privilege staff trying to sell you their services. There isn’t many activities for kids. There’s a long wait for everything. Check in took 30+ minutes with only 1 clerk working. Housekeeping half cleaned the rooms and they don’t leave what you need. I wouldn’t visit again and I’d rather stay in actual Cancun."

"Overall great stay. Check in was easy. Room key is a wrist band. Makes it easy to come and go. No key to keep track of. Security was great. There is a long drive from the front gate to the resort which makes you feel like you really are in your own world. Each time we left we had to be vetted to return. Not just anyone can get in. The beach had seaweed, which made it impossible to use. That is out of the resorts control. Mother nature is undefeated. Every resort was affected. There are some unusual conditions causing the issue. I wouldn't consider this a negative that the resort could control. Do not hold it against them. Dump trucks and excavators hauling it out daily couldn't make a dent. It's an anomaly. A different time of year it likely wouldn't be an issue. On a positive note, It forced everyone to come together and interact at the pools. That probably wouldn't have happened if the beach was the primary attraction. We made new friends there. Restaurants were great, The activiry pool lively. Event staff was awesome. They have a sports bar that's open 24/7. 24 hr room service is available. Spa was awesome. I like the plantation style design. No elevators, no waiting to get back to your room. Rooms were nice, and updated. We saw staff constantly painting, trimming hedges, and all the things to keep the resort looking great. Really cool wildlife on site. We would definitely come back!"

"We had an absolutely incredible stay at this resort in Mexico—truly a 5-star experience from start to finish. The property itself is beautiful, spotless, and perfectly maintained, with amazing pools, great food options, and plenty to do whether you want to relax or stay active. What really set this trip apart, though, was the Family Select experience—especially the butler service and swim up room. The pools were immaculate and so relaxing. It made everything so seamless and stress-free. From helping with reservations and organizing our daily plans to checking in regularly and going above and beyond for even the smallest requests, the butler team was exceptional. Traveling with family can sometimes feel hectic, but they made it feel effortless and elevated the entire vacation. The staff across the resort were warm, friendly, and genuinely attentive, always going out of their way to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. You can tell they truly care about creating a memorable experience. We would absolutely come back and highly recommend this resort—especially if you’re considering the Family Select upgrade. It’s worth every penny for the added comfort, service, and overall experience."

"Property was a little older but still kept up quite nicely. The staff were very nice and helpful. The food was very good at all the restaurants! The seaweed/ its smell made the beach unusable unfortunately but the resort was doing what they could to clean the beach. The pools were great so even without the beach you could still have a very enjoyable and relaxing time"

"I booked this resort because of the many amenities and activities that were advertised, including cenotes, water attractions, and multiple restaurants. Unfortunately, several of these attractions and dining options were closed or unavailable during my stay. I stayed for 8 nights, and my toilet broke 3 different times. Reaching the front desk was often difficult, and when I was finally able to report the issue, it was not fixed even hours later. The hot tub was also out of service, and the air conditioning stopped working overnight as well. The food was decent if you could get reservations, but they fill up very quickly. Some staff members were friendly and helpful, while others seemed uninterested in assisting guests. The beach was heavily affected by seaweed, which I understand is beyond the resort's control. However, with the beach conditions limiting enjoyment, I expected more effort to be made to keep other activities and amenities open and available. I also want to warn future guests about the sales presentations. During my stay, staff repeatedly approached me with offers for "special deals" and "coupons." In my experience, these lead to high-pressure timeshare sales pitches that can negatively impact your vacation. Overall, the resort did not live up to the expectations created by its advertising, and the repeated maintenance issues, unavailable amenities, and sales pressure made for a disappointing stay."

"The hotel is a wonderful, family-friendly destination with a few adults-only areas for those looking for a quieter atmosphere. Our favorite restaurant was Margarita — if you visit, look for Mario (quesadilla maker). He is incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive. Mario’s quesadillas were so good you’ll probably end up having more than one while enjoying some great conversation with him. If you become a Privilege or Exclusive member, ask for Alan as your advisor. He helped my friends and I find the best places to visit and arranged our restaurant reservations to fit perfectly into our schedule. The resort itself is a great place to stay and enjoy without ever needing to leave the property. There are plenty of activities and entertainment options, and the whole resort feels like a small town with something for everyone."
