"A wonderful combination of a 400 year old property and beautifully appointed traditional rooms mixed with Meiji era fineries and antiquities and the most incredibly helpful staff - many from Nepal speaking beautifully eloquent Japanese - we loved it and will be back"

Property was beautiful, maybe a little more dinner options to pick from other than hotel at night. So if you want any somewhere local for dinner attached a pic to my review.

Loved our stay. Courteous and polite staff. Great favorites. Very clean. Nice big rooms with awesome private and public onsen options. Breakfast was wow! Complimentary shuttle bus, ice cream machine and tea in lobby, location up in quiet hills…10/10!

The moment we stepped into the beautiful Mikawaya Ryokan, we felt so welcomed and relaxed. My friend and I stayed in a standard room with two large single beds/thick futons. The Japanese-style room itself was very comfortable, large and clean with the entry way & washroom, sleeping area, living room, and balcony separated by sliding doors. All the staff members - from reception to restaurant - were so nice and very helpful. I really appreciated the effort and care the staff took with my dietary...

Beautiful accommodation, with a private bath in our room, made for a very relaxing stay in Hakone. The private onsens were very good and the lounge wear provided for guests was a nice touch.

Beautiful hotel in stunning grounds with view of Mt Fuji from some bedroom windows.
It's not accessible by foot & public transport to get to the venue was a little bit challenging.

The personnel was very friendly and efficient, it’s a great location just a few steps from the station and equally close to the fish market where I’ve enjoyed a few great meals of amazingly fresh Sashimi.

Perfect Traditional accomodation experience. Although expensive compared to traditional hotels, was more reasonable than other ryokans we looked at. Picked up on shuttle bus from train station. Beautiful views of lake Hakone and my Fuji! About 30min walk into town. Reception spoke great English and organised our bag transport back to the station the next day which I recommend so you are free to sight see around the lake.

We were an extended family of seven. We had half board included. The experience of staying in a ryokan was wonderful. The breakfast and dinner served to us in our larger room was both generous in portions and delicious to taste. The children were given partial portions of the Japanese menu which they enjoyed.
The service from all staff was gracious and friendly.
