Aarons Cottage

10/10 Excellent

"We arrived to a very clean spacious room. The manager sent us our door code. We noticed that the bathroom shower did not have a curtain. The manager offered to change our room or we could just use a towel on the floor. That worked for us! We just used a towel. The adjoining kitchen was a great addition as we like to cook our own meals sometimes. The area is so quiet and beautiful. The street in front of the cottage dead ends into a beautiful secluded public beach, that’s an easy walk away. We were close to downtown, restaurants, beaches to swim and snorkel. Wonderful stay!"

Grand Naniloa Hotel Hilo - a Doubletree by Hilton

"The hotel is located on the beach. It has great amenities like a gym and an onsite location. While we stayed, the hotel was in transition with work and you had to summon the elevator via calling front desk who would radio the employee in the elevator. I don’t know if that is a long term inconvenience although the front desk made it work relatively seamlessly. There is no room service feature and the valet parking service was not operating during our stay. I would have liked to have a deck to sit out and watch the sunset. Again, not sure if this is construction-related. Overall, the stay was comfortable. It’s located close to the airport and as stated earlier, it’s on the beach."

"Room was clean , has a kitchen with refrigerator, the only thing we were dissatisfied with was no AC they had 2 standing fans and a ceiling fan but being summer it was really hot and hard to sleep .. Staff was very friendly and of course it’s an older property but for the price it was good ."

Mahana House Country Inn

"Mahana House is a gorgeous space where seemingly everything has been thought about and tended to. The hosts are kind, gracious, and welcoming. They're as available as you need them to be, and when my mom and I were caught in a tropical storm and literally not even sure we'd make it to the inn, they were continuously available and responsible, without having electricity themselves. This is a truly beautiful, special place, and I hope to go back!"

"Nice old plantation style house with a beautiful yard and view of Hilo. Staff was nice and helpful, even tho I arrived a day and a half late. Very peaceful place to stay, with birds chirping in the morning and coqui frogs croaking at night."
