"The room was very clean and reasonably spacious, and ver quiet. The gentleman at the front desk was helpful and nice. I would have no problems recommending this motel."

"Staff are very helpful with accommodating requests and respond quickly. The property is clean and well maintained. Security on-site is excellent. The hotel is centrally located to the business centre of lismore but is quiet. A pleasant park is directly across the road and for a no-fuss quick meal the Lismore Workers Club is a two minute walk away. If you don't want to eat at the club there a many other eating venues within a five minute walk radius. The beds are comfortable and the rooms provide...

the accommodation was a budget choice for us but... we loved it so much we returned the following night for another night on our return trip. Thanks for a simple basic clean comfy quiet location on a weekend night. We will recommend and return ourselves.

I recently spent 5 nights at Invercauld House with my 5 year old daughter. Being my home town, I knew the area well but I had never heard of this hidden gem of Lismore! Absolutely loved our stay here, in this private leafy grand motel room. The trees and grounds are meticulously maintained, it was cool and welcoming, clean and user friendly. The pool is amazing, huge and wonderful we swam nearly every day with a short walk back to our room, past the guest laundry where we threw our towels in the...

A welcome lack of signs telling you what to do and staff very low key so we felt free to just relax and enjoy ourselves. Cabin was very clean and everything worked. Very close to town, the river and the surf beach and very close to the excellent cafe and restaurant at the surf club.

This place is not the Astoria Waldorf but it is a good as you get in a place like Lismore, loved by some but loathed by most, and the rich burghers live on the coast at Lennox Head or Byron Bay. The food in the Restaurant was really good, inexpensive and the staff and typical civilized friendly country people. You will be happy there

The best area to stay in Ellangowan is within the village itself, particularly around the main street, for convenient access to local amenities and the region's natural beauty.
Ellangowan is a small, quiet village located in the New South Wales Northern Rivers region, known for its rural setting and proximity to national parks. The main street, which is not extensively named but serves as the central thoroughfare, typically features the general store, local pub, and community hall. Accommodation options here are usually smaller, independent establishments or holiday rentals, reflecting the village's relaxed character.
Couples looking for a peaceful getaway will appreciate staying directly in Ellangowan. It offers a relaxed base from which to explore the surrounding countryside, including nearby national parks like the Richmond Range National Park, which is excellent for bushwalking and spotting local wildlife. The village provides a calm retreat after a day of exploring.
For those travelling with a family, staying in Ellangowan offers a practical and comfortable experience. Holiday homes or farm stays in and around the village often provide more space and a chance for children to experience a rural environment.
When is the best time to go to Ellangowan?
The best time to go to Ellangowan is during the autumn months of March to May or the spring months of September to November, when the weather is most pleasant for exploring.
During autumn, the temperatures are comfortably mild, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C, with lower humidity. This makes it ideal for outdoor activities like bushwalking in the nearby national parks or exploring the local agricultural areas without the intense heat of summer. You'll find the countryside lush and inviting.
Spring also offers similar agreeable temperatures, usually between 18°C and 28°C, and this is when the region's flora is in full bloom. It's a wonderful time for those who appreciate scenic drives and photography, as the landscape is particularly picturesque. The clear skies are great for stargazing in the evenings.
Avoiding the peak summer (December to February) is advisable due to higher temperatures that can often exceed 30°C and increased humidity, which might make extensive outdoor activities less comfortable.
