7 Epic Craft Beer Adventures

What’s better than sipping a cold one while exploring a city? We think not much. That’s what inspired our awesome Kegs of Glory campaign, but now, we’re branching out.

We’ve picked the best craft beer tours in Australia, added in beer-centric bistros, and topped it all off with can’t-miss events. To sum up: don’t go past these epic beer tasting tours!

1. Brisbane, QLD

There’s a reason Brissie is a Kegs of Glory featured city: brewery tours in Brisbane are tops. Set off on the Best of Brisbane Brewery Tour for an introduction to the city’s booming craft beer scene.

Eat: Saccharomyces Beer Café (or SBC to the locals) serves up the best pairings in South Brisbane.
Best time for beer lovers: With more than forty breweries, the Beer InCider Experience on September 21–22 is a great craft beer festival in Australia.

2. Sydney, NSW

Ever wished you could drink beer and throw axes? On one Sydney brewery tour, you can. The Full-Day Brewery & Axe Throwing Tour gives you the axes first—then the beer.

Eat: Dove & Olive has the biggest craft beer selection in Surry Hills.
Best time for beer lovers: It’s not a Sydney beer festival—it’s better. Sydney Beer Week runs from October 26 to November 4 this year.

3. Broome, WA

Broome may be known for pearls and tourists, but its beer is ace, too. Learn its history on the Broome Town Tour with Beer Tasting—with a paddle of ale at the end, of course.

Eat: Diver’s Tavern is a bar, bistro, and bottle-o, so you can’t go wrong.

4. Canberra, ACT

The capital wouldn’t be seen dead without a bonzer craft beer tour. Dive into beer tasting in Canberra on the Small-Group Craft Beer Tour with Lunch and learn fancy words like “cicerone”.

Eat: Brew & Brew is a gastropub so nice, they named it twice. Their hyperlocal menu serves only Canberra-brewed beer.

5. McLaren Vale, SA

6. Melbourne, VIC

Beer tasting activities in Melbourne aren’t all about brews—there’s sports, too. Thanks to the Sport & Beer Lovers Tour, you won’t have to choose between drinking beer and touring Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Eat: Captain Melville’s menu features Australia’s latest and greatest beers—oh, and there’s food, too.
Best time for beer lovers: Keep in the sporting (and drinking) spirit at the Men’s Gillette T20 INTL cricket competition on November 23.

7. Gold Coast, QLD

Surf, sand, and suds are all on tap on the Guided Gold Coast Brewery Tour. Experience the coast’s laid-back beach vibes from a new perspective—through beer goggles.

Eat: On Main Beach, Bistro Chico serves Mediterranean fare, but its beers are all local.
Best time for beer lovers: The Crafted Beer and Cider Festival on October 6 is one of the up-and-coming Australian craft beer festivals of 2018.
