Relax in this small village on the Tweed Coast and enjoy oceanfront nature reserves, renowned surf breaks and fantastic fishing spots.

Cabarita Beach is a coastal hamlet stretching along northern New South Wales’ Tweed Coast, known for its surf beaches and laid-back charm. Enjoy the local community atmosphere or watch professionals riding the waves. Backing onto protected wetlands and coastal reserves, Cabarita Beach is surrounded by magnificent natural scenery and is a popular spot for wildlife watching.

Stroll down the village’s waterfront promenade and visit local shops and boutiques. Make your way to the water’s edge directly in front of town to reach the broad sandy expanse of Main Beach. Stretch out on the golden sand or swim in the section of the beach patrolled by the local surf lifesaving club.

If the swell is pumping, seasoned surfers wax their boards and take on Cabarita Beach’s notorious waves. Time your visit with one of the regional surf competitions or carnivals. Watch as competitors perform tricks as they carve through the waves. Fishing competitions are also popular local events. Devoted anglers from all over New South Wales and Queensland try to hook the biggest tailor at June’s Greenback Tailor Fishing Competition.

Enjoy some hearty local fare at Cabarita Beach’s waterfront pub. Alternatively, use the picnic tables and barbecue facilities in the shoreline park and have a freshly grilled meal while appreciating fantastic views over the Pacific Ocean. Check out the perspective along the Tweed Coast from Norries Head and look for migrating whales in the cooler months. Explore the coastal heathland along the shoreline reserve or try birdwatching in the nearby wetlands of Cudgen Lake.

Cabarita Beach is less than a 30-minute drive south from Tweed Heads. You can also reach the coastal village from Byron Bay, which is about a 1-hour drive. Add Cabarita Beach to your road trip along the North Coast and the Tweed Coast. Enjoy the laid-back appeal of the Tweed Coast in Cabarita Beach.
