Helen Browning's Royal Oak was exactly as pictured on the booking site. The rooms were very quirky and comfortable. Definitely not the biggest room we have stayed in but perfectly functional. The communal area more than made up for this and gave us somewhere to chill out. Dinner and breakfast were really good as was the atmosphere in the bar. It is off the main highway a bit but well worth the effort.

Statement: Our stay at Overtown Manor was the most pleasant stay we had while in England and Germany for a month. Justify: This is the only review my wife and I have ever written for an accommodation provider - which is testimony in itself. Beautiful, immaculately maintained, spacious and "all the creature comforts you could ask for" accommodation. Manicured gardens to stroll around.

Great location, great value and superb room

We really enjoyed our stay at Lords of the Manor. The house is absolutely beautiful and the ground surrounding it are classic picturesque countryside. Lovely walk through upper and lower slaughter. We had dinner at the restaurant which was a bit too fancy and pricey for our tastes but the staff were lovely and very kind. The room was wonderful for the night and I would recommend it!

This hotel was highly rated as the best in UK… unfortunately it did not live up to this expectation. The facilities are run down; it has a nice pool that was probably amazing in its day. The breakfast was good; better than the Michelin star dinner! Our experience may have been tainted because we had just stayed at Heckfield place which was so much better! The grounds and the main house is quite beautiful. We would have loved to do some horse riding but the weather wasn’t permitting.

If you enjoy walking and delicious food the Slaughters Inn is for you. Less than 2 hours on the train from London the Inn organised a taxi to whisk us away to Lower Slaughter. We were greated by cheerful staff and shown to an elegant room with all the comforts. The Inn boasts a very pretty and spacious garden perfect for outdoor dining. Suoer great location and excellent, modern and spacious room. Nothing lacking. Definitely recommend a stopover or extended stay. The Churchill Inn is next door. Food great.

A lovely hotel in a great location. Many more stairs than I expected but it is a very old hotel. The breakfast was excellent.

Very attentive staff. Helped us bring the luggage in and upstairs to our room. Beautiful, cosy room and comfortable bed. Bar area was perfect and a good breakfast.
