As always, our stay was amazing! Attentive staff, great service, very clean and stunning room. Covid guidelines all followed here and so felt at ease. Will definitely return. Thank you for a lovely stay Barnsley House.xx
Lovely hotel we were upgraded to the Rosemary suite for our anniversary, this was stunning. The hotel is very unique and absolutely perfect for a romantic getaway.
Hotel itself is lovely but we went as we are expecting our first child and wanted to get away for a night whilst we can.
We chose the hotel as it had a pool and great reviews, reading online there were no statements that the pool was heated to a level that it was no longer safe for pregnant woman. We found this out once changed and ready to use the facilities via a sign next to pool area.
I was that upset we cancelled dinner at the venue and went into Cirencester.
The deputy manger did called so apologise and sent a Elemis travel gift but it’s a bit too late when you have spent £300 for a stay in a hotel room which could of been anywhere. Ruined our weekend away.
Overall a pleasant retreat if we ignore that everything is just a little bit off (with the price, one wouldn't expect so many mistakes).
2nd day: dinner is tasty but our aperitifs didn’t arrive until we finished our starters (curious timing). We had to chase twice because no one was paying attention to our table. In the meantime other tables were enjoying their drinks even though we were the first table to be seated.
3rd day: breakfast in the room arrived without the drinks we ordered. I would think it’s unusual for hotel guests to have breakfast without any drink but it appeared no one cared to check before serving. I asked for the eggs to be well done but it came runny.
I know it’s weekend but it’s quite disappointing the housekeeper didn’t clean the room until 3pm.
In the evening we ordered in-room dining, a bottle opener and a bottle of water, and they managed to forget about the water. By that point we can’t be bothered to correct them any more.
4th day: I ordered Full English without bacon (and confirmed I want the black pudding as in the menu). It came WITH bacon and WITHOUT black pudding instead. And for the second consecutive day, the eggs came runny again even though I specially asked.
I came here 3 years ago with my girlfriends and the service was a lot more attentive and thorough then. Polite as always but not as attentive as it used to be. There are still many good things about this place, but for the price I’d expect fewer mistakes.
This is the most beautiful hotel. The service is 5 star, the food delicious and the rooms are just sublime. I would totally recommend a stay here without hesitation. I can't wait to return.
Lovely rooms with great bathtubs and large beds. The food was good but not gourmet although it was very reasonably priced. My wife loved the spa but said it was a bit small. I used the private cinema and I absolutely enjoyed the experience.
From the grounds to the actual house, everything was beautiful about this property. The staff were so warm and happy to help with any request. This was a weekend babymoon getaway (we live in NYC but were visiting London) and we really thought Barnsley House was a special place.
Possibly the best stay at a hotel, resort, or spa I have ever had and seconded by my fiance. Starting with the grounds and building itself, they are absolutely beautiful. Cozy, welcoming, and renovated interior with a charming old English country exterior. Facilities are fantastic, food is farm to table, mostly from their own vegetable garden. And most importantly the staff are openly enthusiastic to help in any way. As an example, for my fiance who eats a vegan diet, they created a short vegan dinner menu in advance specifically for her, and the food was amazing. Located in a great area for sightseeing, relaxing, or outdoorsy stuff, I would 100% recommend and we will be going back for sure.
Amazing hotel and spa, perfect for a relaxing weekend away. Very friendly and efficient front of house staff, but think the restaurant / bar staff were struggling during our visit with slow service.
Nevertheless, would recommend and would stay again.
The gardens are beautiful and very well maintained. There’s a tennis court and croquet set for those looking for something a little more active.
Breakfast was good, with fresh organic eggs from the onsite chicken coup.
Our room in the stables was a mini-spa in itself; equipped with steam room shower and hot-tub bath upstairs. Brilliant!
Opportunity to use the spa facilities without actually having a specific treatment. Private cinema was an unexpected bonus - able to choose from a selection of films and watch in the cinema at an agreed time.
Lovely hotel lovely location from the moment we checked in the management greeted us made us feel at home .
Lovely spa too!! Well worth a stay thank you so much 😊
There's no doubt about it, Barnsley House is an amazing hotel which feels very personal and the staff go out of their way to make sure you have a good stay. There's only 18 rooms or so, so it's more like a big country house. Stayed in a Stables room which had the wow factor with a upstairs bathroom, a seating area with a log burner and had a really good night's sleep which is difficult for me when I'm travelling. The breakfast I felt was a bit on the light side for a £350+ night stay, ordered Eggs Royale and got a small egg on a small muffin - two have been the norm in much cheaper hotels. A greater selection of fruits, breads and pastries wouldn't go amiss either - you get more of the same quality in a Radisson Blu! The gardens were a bit overgrown and the nearby cows attract a lot of flies and wasps especially in the spa which is something we battled with - not a gardening expert but other properties of this standard don't seem to have that problem. Probably the location and I'm from the city so what do I know! The spa was smaller than expected however we were the only ones using it so it felt so much more personal. Perhaps there's room to expand in to a proper thermal experience to meet the price tag? All in all though a really lovely hotel.
Great hotel/spa with very attentive staff. Ideally located for the Cotswolds if you want to explore rather than just relax.
Restaurant and associated pub both served v good food that is priced appropriately for this type of hotel.
We had a wonderful stay where nothing was too much trouble for any of the super friendly and helpful staff. Amazing accommodation, great food and such wonderful service at all times. Highly recommended and we'll definitely visit again.
Stunning hotel with excellent service nested in a beautiful landscape. Our room was spacious (great bed and fantastic bathroom) and packed with period features. The spa is on a small side having only a small hydro pool, sauna and steam room but it offers a wide range of treatments. Overall we had an excellent stay.
I can't recommend this Hotel enough. From the moment we walked in the the moment we left, we had excellent service. All the staff we met were friendly and attentive. The suite we stayed in was amazing, and the food was delicious! We will definately be back!
