"Asante Inn is a charming guest house with very helpful staff. The Inn has a beautiful Japanese garden. There is a very peaceful area for sitting dining/drinking tea overlooking the garden. "We stayed here for two nights in one of the small double pods (up the ladder). It was a bigger space than we expected and quite comfortable. The walls are understandably thin, so be prepared to hear people in the rooms around and below you. There are earplugs provided, which is helpful. The staff were all lovely and we really enjoyed our dinner around the fire! We also walked to a nearby onsen and found the location to be very convenient for exploring Hakone. Would definitely recommend! "

"Fantastic hostel. We were a family of 4 (all adults) in one room. Bunks were great, spacious floor space, Onsen was nice bonus. Fantastic staff. Breakfast recommended. Can’t beat this location. Great point to stay at to experience that Hakone area on the free pass. Would stay again in a heartbeat. "

"Nice staff, clean and have free green tea and coffee. However there is no private bathroom in our room. The property is up the hill and very difficult to walk up with luggage. The bus runs every half hour from 7:30-8:00 am and then every hour after that. You have to call taxi after dinner near station. "

"The stay is value for money. Pros: - good view of the Mt. Fuji in the room - walkable distance to train station - there are restaurants nearby which will open till 10 or 11pm - hostel provides free bread, coffee and fruit - condition of the room is better than expected Cons: - the host/staff was not really hospitable, this didn't mean any impoliteness though - sound insulation is really really bad, please be aware if you are a light sleeper - not enough slippers, need to bring your own one"

"Highly recommend this hostel for anyone staying around the Fuji area! As soon as I arrived, I was welcomed by the friendly staff, who all spoke English. I was shown a tour of the hostel which was helpful and got to choose which bed to stay in (tip - don't sleep next to the dehumidifier, it's got a constant hum, the hostel is not to blame for this!).
