The best area to stay in Semington is within the village itself, particularly around the High Street and St. George's Church.

This area offers a quiet, rural setting typical of the English countryside. The High Street, though small, is the heart of the village, providing easy access to local footpaths and the picturesque Kennet and Avon Canal. You'll find traditional cottages and a relaxed pace of life here.

Couples looking for a tranquil escape will find Semington village ideal. It's great for leisurely walks along the canal towpath, enjoying the natural surroundings, and unwinding away from the hustle and bustle. The local pub often serves as a central point for a relaxed evening.

For those planning to explore the wider Wiltshire area by car, staying slightly outside the immediate village centre, but still within Semington parish, can be a good option.

The best time to visit Semington is typically between late spring and early autumn, from May to September, when the weather is at its most pleasant.

During these months, you'll find warmer temperatures and longer daylight hours, which are ideal for exploring the local countryside and attractions without the chill or dampness that can characterise other times of the year. This period also generally sees less rainfall, making outdoor activities more enjoyable.

For those planning to explore the Kennet and Avon Canal, this timeframe is particularly suitable. The canal paths are drier and easier to navigate, and boat trips are more readily available and comfortable. It's also a great time for couples looking for a relaxed break, perhaps enjoying a leisurely walk along the towpath or visiting nearby historic sites.

Families often find the summer months of July and August excellent for a visit, coinciding with school holidays.
