"Booked as a birthday gift for husband and chose a four poster suite. Very disappointing. Tired décor, ripped curtains, stained carpets and dirty mirror. Bathroom very dated and a foist smell throughout. When we arrived there was a vacuum and dirty cloths on the floor so made reception aware. They told me they'd notify housekeeping. "Ideal base for a few days hiking, particularly in the area of Thirlmere & Helvellyn from Swirls. We weren’t in the hotel too much due to hiking, but more than adequate after a tiring day in the fells. Room was comfortable, if a little small (but there are different choices of room type, so you book for your needs!). Clean & well presented. Comfy bed, great amenities for drinks & snacks.
