"Stayed for 2 nights in the adjacent building as we had a family room. Staff - was not overly friendly/not very hospitable/didn’t really welcome us Room - reasonably clean but bathroom and room was very tired and was in very much need of an update! Bathroom especially, including wobbly taps, paint peeling off walls etc!! We had family staying in the actual hotel building and they had door banging in the night, tv turning on at 1am, drunks nextdoor banging on the wall in the night and smoke alarm going off in the night due to next door smoking in their room Overall 😂 not very impressed. It was an ok place to sleep in but you wouldn’t want to spend anymore time there than was necessary "

"No fault of the hotel but when booked with Hotels.commit was booked as a Hilton. Apparently it has changed ownership and we were never informed by hotels.com which resulted in confusion when trying to look up the hotel on navigation "

"Because of hip and knee problems, it was wonderful to have helpful staff carry my case up the stairs into the hotel. I had a lovely first-floor room, clean, bright, with a spacious bathroom that had a separate tub from the walk-in shower. There was a good amount of space in the area that had a closet and a desk. The selection of teas in the room was excellent for me since I am not a coffee drinker, but they had organic coffee, too. From decorations to comfort and especially to the helpful staff, this was a great choice for me as a solo traveler."

"My wife and I both had evening meals in the bar and they were delicious. It was probably the best burger I have ever had. The breakfast was equally as good The staff are very friendly and helpful."

"Upon arrival the hotel appeared top class, very clean and parking was right outside the front entrance. Inside it was immaculate and beautifully decorated. The manager was very welcoming and we were checked in with no issues. You enter your car reg to validate free parking. The room was extremely clean and spacious with a lovely ensuite bathroom, and very comfortable. Breakfast was more than adequate with cereals, fruit, yogurt, fresh toast with butter and jams, plus apple juice, orange juice and tea and coffee. You get a cooked breakfast, although I was disappointed that the promised vegetarian option for meat free sausages or bacon was not available, but it was still tasty and fresh. The hotel is in a handy location for Edinburgh and was nice and quiet. All the staff were lovely and we'd definitely stay here again. "

"Really nice hotel with lovely staff and a great pool. Rooms are a good size with comfortable chairs and a bathroom with a bath. Good base for some sightseeing, including Edinburgh only 20 minutes away by train."

"I have to say , WOW! Both me and my husband enjoyed our stay so much at the Dakota . We originally booked a king room for our last two days to relax before our flight . After our first night , though the room was stunning , but we decided we wanted to indulge. I went down to reception where Brooke helped us , and organized a suite for the remainder of our stay . They allowed us to relax in our previous room until the suite was ready , which was before normal check in time (3pm) . Bringing us into the room shortly after 12pm. If you go to this hotel , I highly recommend upgrading . Though the entry level rooms are beautiful and extremely comfortable , the suites are truly an experience. Every need is met before you even have to ask , and the staff were incredible . During our stay in Scotland we visited 4 hotels , and this was by far the best hospitality we received. The champagne service is such a lovely touch as well ! It was the most relaxed and calm we’ve been during our entire trip . Thank you so much to the entire Dakota staff (especially Brooke and David ) for making it truly amazing . We will definitely be back !"

"The rooms can do with a deep clean. From the sink to the skirting it was filthy. We had a family room, the top mattress was burst open, which you could see from the bottom bunk. The handle on the cupboard in the bunk bed room was broken off, not ideal as meant we couldn't use it. There is an additional charge to use the swimming pool, I didn't know this until check in. Breakfast was alright, however, there were no pastries the whole time were at breakfast, and there was still and hour left of breakfast service to go. Although setting is good I wouldn't rush back to this hotel."
