The best area to stay in Ottaba is the Central Business District (CBD) for its convenience and access to key attractions.

The CBD is the heart of Ottaba, offering a mix of modern high-rises and historic buildings. Many of the city's main sights, such as the Ottaba Art Gallery and the Parliament House, are located here. The area is well-connected by public transport, and you'll find a wide selection of shops, restaurants, and cafes along Queen Street Mall. It's a very walkable district, making it easy to get around on foot.

For couples, the South Bank Parklands area offers a lovely experience. Situated just across the Ottaba River from the CBD, it's known for its beautiful green spaces, the artificial beach, and a wide array of dining options along Little Stanley Street. You can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the river, visit the Queensland Cultural Centre, or catch a show at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre. It feels a bit more relaxed than the bustling CBD while still being very central and easily accessible via the pedestrian bridges.

Families will particularly enjoy staying in South Bank. The parklands offer plenty of activities for children, including playgrounds, swimming lagoons, and open spaces for picnics. The Queensland Museum and Sciencentre are also located here, providing engaging educational experiences.

The best time to go to Ottaba is during its dry season, which runs from May to October, as this offers the most comfortable weather for exploring.

During these months, you can expect clear skies, lower humidity, and average temperatures ranging from 18°C to 25°C. This makes it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking and enjoying the natural beauty of the region without the intensity of the summer heat or the disruption of heavy rainfall. It's also the peak season for wildlife spotting.

For those looking to avoid the larger crowds and potentially find better value on accommodation and flights, the shoulder months of May and October are particularly good.
