"Comfortable one bedroom cottage with great kitchen, laundry facilities very close to the beach and Port Arthur historic site. Has a restaurant on site - lots of people eating there but we only had a drink. Great place to stay."

"Nice clean accommodation, convenient proximity to the airport. The staff communicated really well despite my delayed flight. Parking outside the room was really handy for cold late night arrival. Overall, really happy with the accommodation."

Needed a place to stay after exploring the port Arthur historical site for the day. This cottage was in a great location and was very well presented. Very clean and comfortable to stay in and also a great range of snacks available for purchase in the room which were very affordable. Great spot close to water also!

Beautiful accommodation on the water. Close to the Tasman Travel Centre for our 3hour Cruise we had pre booked. Went to the restaurant for dinner which was excellent food and wine.

Loved the location and the view over Port Arthur from our balcony was outstanding. The motel was well appointed and has a restaurant if needed.
Everything was clean and welcoming access and parking were easy.

Fantastic accommodation, one of the best weve stayed in - we've recently spent a fair amount of time travelling down the east coast from QLD and all over Tasmania.
The park was clean, had everything we needed and seemed very well maintained.
In quite a good position if you're planning to travel about the local region. Its close to the highway but heard no highway noise at all, could hear planes taking off of course but did not disturb my sleep at all.
We weren't there long but looked like a...

Our room was spotless and with daily servicing of the room was a bonus.
It was quiet with easy parking outside your door.
Outside bush land/weeds wasnt the best views. Perhaps upgrade to smart TVs?

Staff very friendly and helpful, shuttle service very handy, had dinner in restaurant which was enjoyable. Handy to airport and to the Motorhome company we used which they happily dropped us off to and picked us up on return. Would recommend this hotel for those travelling around Tassie.

The best area to stay in Murdunna is along the waterfront of the Tasman Peninsula Highway, particularly around the small cluster of shops and facilities.
This area provides direct access to the water and offers stunning views across Norfolk Bay. It's the main point of interest in Murdunna, with a few local businesses providing essentials and local produce. The layout is quite spread out, with properties generally enjoying private access or close proximity to the water's edge.
Couples looking for a peaceful retreat will find this area ideal. The focus here is on relaxation, enjoying the natural beauty, and perhaps a spot of fishing or kayaking directly from your accommodation. It's a wonderful base for exploring the Tasman Peninsula's natural attractions during the day and returning to a quiet waterfront setting in the evening.
For families, staying along the Tasman Peninsula Highway near the waterfront also offers practical advantages. Many properties in this stretch often come with ample space and easy access to the water for children to play, under supervision.
When is the best time to go to Murdunna?
The best time to go to Murdunna is during the warmer months, specifically from December to February, when the weather is most pleasant for outdoor activities.
This period, corresponding to the Australian summer, offers longer daylight hours and average temperatures ranging from 17°C to 23°C. It's ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the Tasman Peninsula, including nearby attractions like the Port Arthur Historic Site and the stunning coastal walks. Families will find these months superb for enjoying the beaches and wildlife parks without the chill of winter.
For those who prefer slightly milder temperatures and fewer crowds, the shoulder seasons of March to May (autumn) and September to November (spring) are also excellent choices. During these times, the weather is still conducive to outdoor exploration, with average temperatures between 12°C and 18°C. Couples might appreciate the quieter atmosphere, making it easier to enjoy romantic strolls along the coastline or intimate dining experiences.
