The best area to stay in Kampung Paya is directly within the central village, particularly around the main jetty and the immediate streets leading off it.

This area is the heart of Kampung Paya, offering convenient access to local eateries, small shops, and the beach. Most accommodations here are traditional chalets or guesthouses, providing an authentic village experience. You'll find yourself just a short stroll from the main beach, where you can relax or arrange boat trips.

Couples looking for a tranquil escape will appreciate the relaxed pace of life here. The evenings are quiet, with the gentle sounds of the sea, making it ideal for unwinding. Many guesthouses offer private balconies with sea views, great for enjoying a sunrise together.

For those travelling with family, staying central means everything is within easy reach. The main beach is suitable for children, and the proximity to local shops means essentials are never far away.

The best time to go to Kampung Paya is during the dry season, which runs from March to October.

During these months, you'll experience consistently sunny days and calm waters, which are ideal for enjoying the beaches and water activities. Temperatures typically range from 25°C to 32°C, making it pleasant for outdoor exploration. This period is great for travellers who want to make the most of the island's natural beauty and spend their days swimming, snorkelling, or simply relaxing by the sea.

For those looking for a quieter experience and potentially better value, the shoulder months of March, April, September, and October are excellent. The weather is still fantastic, but the island tends to be less crowded than during the peak school holiday periods in June, July, and August.
