The hotel location was very good closer to the railway station, food is excellent with very tasty traditional food, staff very helpful and friendly,however the room I was given was not that good, air conditioner was not working also mininal facilities hence disappointed

The welcome we received was very welcoming by all staff members. The room was very nice big and spacious and you felt you were in a entiry different hotel. The hotel needs to be maintained to a better standard then it currently is, there is wallpaper peeling off the wall the reception bathroom is not kept clean and some floors of the hotel were not clean. The restaurant is also open to the public and offer really good food. It again its not maintained well and needs to be improved to attract more visitors. We didn't use the pool as when we found where it was it didn't look too clean either I'm affriad to say. Appreciate that it may not of been peak season for them but the hotel was full and the cleanliness must be maintained

A Good place to stay in Jaffna.
We stayed 8 days in this hotel which is at a convent spot.The place is very clean and welcoming.The rooms are spacious and kept spotlessly clean.The view from balcony is good.Bath room is large with good shower. The staff are curtiess and polite and the service is excellent.Fabulous break fast with choice of Srilankan food including appam. We would recommend this hotel to any one.

Very friendly staff and very attentive. Resturant facilities were excellent but would like more choices for vegetatians One issue was noise from the bar/ resurant during night time was quite loud.

Wifi is a bit of a hassle. The main building looks nice, but the budget rooms are in a separate building that is more of a 2 star feeling (old looking furniture, no hot water the first night, view of parking lot). The pool is nothing special / near the other hotel restaurant/bar so not relaxing. Service was very friendly but not very efficient (eg slow check in, or when reserving a scooter rental for 7am the next morning but when i arrived at the front desk to pick it up, there was no scooter, confused staff, took 30 mins to get the scooter and when it arrived it was old and gas tank at empty). Lobby and front patio was nice and location near train station is good.

Decent hotel near Jaffna town. Some items in the room didn't work properly. toilet flush was one issue. There is smell in the bathroom which could be due to an issue with the plumping. Wireless connection was also not straight forward.

This hotel is well located, adjacent to Jaffna railway station and walking distance to the town and fort. It also has a good reasonably priced restaurant with good breakfast. A significant problem is that their 'standard' rooms are not actually in the main building and are definitely substandard and about 1 star whereas the 'deluxe' rooms are 3 star or better. I was able to sort this out, but these standard rooms should not be offered on their website as being part of the Valampuri hotel, as travellers will just assume a level of comfort which does not apply. This is a significant problem at check in - but unfortunately only when the room has been visited - when a nonrefundable rate is chosen.

Off colour towels. Extension of the hotel also advertised under Valpuri hotel but rates are low . When I book online I don’t know that . But when book in only you kno this . This position of the building badly managed and Oder in the room very worrying. Sewerage smell put you off. Informed the management no apologies .

Room is two small . When I booked I didn’t know it’s separate Building. Me and my wife not too worried about this but the smell come from drainage unbearable today I experienced with strong smell I complain to management no apologies. All night my air conditioner not working . They corrected it . Regado smell stil there they clean the bathroom but I explain it’s not from bathroom and it’s from drainage. They all good shaking their head .

Valampuri Hotel - Very satisfied stay
Stayed over a week and no complaints. Located very closed to the Railway station (min walk). Friendly staff, clean rooms (I stayed at the upgraded suit). Great WiFi all through out the building (must) and nice restaurant at the lobby. Beautiful pool to cool off in the evenings. There was numerous bar and I am sure the service was good. Only issue is there is no entertainment in the evenings or the Gym facilities (under reno). Over all it was a great stay for the price.

Nice hotel and value for money
A very good hotel and although showing its age, areas were being painted at the time of our stay. The train station is next to the hotel and although convenient, train announcements can be heard in the early hours if the balcony door is left open. An extensive and good buffet breakfast. Although only a 3 star hotel it seemed to have all the essential facilities and services of higher star hotels.

Hotel conveniently located
Although the hotel was conveniently located within couple of minutes of walking distance to the Jaffna railway station, I was disappointed with the overall quality of the room. We were given a room in a different building and not the main hotel and cannot comment about the rooms in the main hotel. The room I was given was acceptable, but as soon as you enter the bathroom, the first thing you notice was a musty smell. I guess it is due to lack of proper ventilation, only a small window that opens into the hallway. The shower area is not enclosed from the rest of the bathroom so that when you take a shower, the entire bathroom floor gets wet. The toilet was not flushing properly. Luckily my wife and I were there for one night only and wouldn't have been able to handle it for more than one night.

high price for the regular room
Booked for the superior room and because of the bad room condition i updated my room to Delux room ($100) . This room is not value for the money. Shower glass was broken and bed sheets are very dirty. Not worth for the money.

Nice hotel central location
We booked a superior room at a reasonable price. The room was not to our satisfaction. Staff suggested a deluxe room in a modern building at additional cost. We accepted this option and very happy with the room. The staff were very friendly and served us well. The food was great Jaffna cuisine. The garden restaurant was great. My wife was ill on the day we were leaving, the general manager came by and send a staff member to get some local medication at no cost to us. This is just great service

A block from the train station. The new manager was helpful, courteous and went above board to accommodate us. He even got us a bottle of the unfermented, slightly alcoholic drink called toddy made from the palmyra palm, which is a local favourite. The buffet breakfast was amazing- so many choices. When we arrived, we were given cool towels, and a cool drink. Felt like royalty!
