Genova Italy has so many grand buildings that have multiple use. The Olympic Hotel is in one of these buildings, with an old fashioned elevator, high ceilings, marble and ornate carvings. The Hotel is on the 4th floor and the management is very friendly and accommodating. The location is perfect for sightseeing, shopping, restaurants and transportation. Good value in a beautiful Italian city.

a cozy, quiet, historical hotel only 2 min walk from Piazza de Ferrari and Piazza del Colombo. Very friendly owner greets you at the door. Clean and affordable. Definitely return

Bonjour Monsieur Caunce Vous avez donné 2 à l'Hotel. Pouquoi? Vous avez acheté la chambre avec la salle de bain à l'exterieur. Elle etait propre, silencieuse et très jolie aussi. S'il y avait quelque chose qui ne vous plaisez pas , vous aurriez pu nous le dire. Si ben il n'y avait rien qui neallait pas. Je vous pris de controller votre note Merci beaucoup

Great budget option
I was welcomed warmly and helped with planning my activities. Agostino is a lovely man with a great sense of humor and we muddled through in English/Italian/Spanish.

There must be many better hotels.
This 'hotel' was not as expected. The room was ok but didn't seem all that clean. The curtains on the window were very odd a net that covered one third of the window, another curtain again covering one third of the window and one third without anything. The shutters were broken and we were afraid they would fall. The bathroom shower cubicle had a very tiny entrance. There was only a part used toilet roll, no spare, in fact we managed to last to the last few sheets. There were not any bedside tables and only a few tatty coat hangers. The man in charge was not overly helpful. I am partially disabled and use a stick, he booked a restaurant for us, for dinner, there was a very long flight of outside steps. When I mentioned it to him next day he said, " well Genoa is hilly, it would have helped if he had told us there was a lift tucked away from the Main Street . 2 nights here was more than enough although we had booked 3, I had to return home for a hospital appointment. We stayed in a far superior home stay in Milan.

What a fabulous location to experience the old and classic portion of Genoa! We used the elevator to reach the fourth floor, where the hotel is located, and found a charming inn-keeper, who answered our questions about the main attractions, which were all within walking distance. The room was comfortable; sometimes the morning noise would be noticeable but closing the windows allowed a quiet morning sleep. This part of Genoa is a fabulous tourist experience. A great price for this hotel!

Avoid in summer
Nicely located, staff are lovely however are too intrusive, at one point one of the owners opened the door whilst we were in the room without knocking. Room was way too hot, unable to sleep for the 2 days. Shower did not work, no running water on the last morning. Would be fine in winter but not summer.

Loved this place!
This location is amazing and the staff assisted us in finding a place for dinner- even called and made us reservations. The hotel is on the fourth floor so it’s quiet and the detail and architecture is beautiful. Private bathroom as well!

The hotel room was great. Very clean and the owners Augustin and Angelo were very helpful. They even did my washing for free and suggested good restaurants. They were very helpful and kind.

When booking, I searched for a 3-4 star rating; I would class this as 2 star and the hotel is good In this category. The hotel is central, clean & manager very welcoming and friendly. English is limited but adequate. I had a nice big room on my first nights stay, the one in the picture on this site. I was informed on check in that I had to change rooms on the second night, annoying! Would have booked somewhere else had I known in advance. I wasn't expecting it to be on a noisy street high up on 5 floor of an old building. I slept with my noise cancelling headphones on all night. I would not advise booking in high summer as there is No air conditioning, only a fan and too noisy to open a window for fresh air. Expedia get your star rating sorted please!!!

The guy at reception desk was very friendly and the room was very clean. However, the room (and especially, bathroom) was not comfortable to use. I had a twin bed and a very small bathroom. In addition, the hotel at the main area, and thus it was noisy.

Central and affordable
Easy to find, in central location - walkable from train station. Lift in building, so no need to worry about struggling with luggage. Staff very accommodating and room was surprisingly spacious. Although on a main street, it was quiet at night, and the super comfy pillows ensured a good night's sleep!

Excellent location and a charming host.
On arrival Signor Agostino was very welcoming and helpful and he went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable. Facilities were far better than I expected given the hotel's star rating. The wifi was easy to connect to and very reliable. The hotel's location was perfect, five minutes from the city centre with most attractions within easy walking distance. Very good value for money. I would certainly stay here again if I am lucky enough to visit Genoa again.

Very bad stay. Loud staff and guests keeping me up all night. The room was small and cramped. I could barley sleep was woken up at 6am and was forced to leave because of constant noise from staff. Do not stay here.

PROS - Location is great, easy to find (my mother and I had no issues getting to the hotel from the Genoa Piazza Principe railway station via public transport). - There is a lift so carrying luggage up to the 4th floor is not a problem. - The owner (?) and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We arrived early but they let us leave our luggage while we explored the city. - My mother and I got a Twin bedroom. The space was small but adequate for one-night stay. - Wi-Fi worked pretty well. CONS - The room was very cold at night. There was very little heating, if at all, and the sheets were thin. - The bathroom was outside our room, however nearby. This was a bit inconvenient but not a huge issue for a night. Overall, good money for value!

We greatly enjoyed our stay and the people were warm, welcoming and extremely helpful. The position is excellent with the station, main points of interest and great food within easy walking distance. Highly recommended as we will book again on our next trip.

I really enjoyed my stay in Olympia Hotel as it was so central to all amenities and I would recommend for everyone who visits Genoa to stay there. The staff were friendly, helpful and easy going. What more could you ask for when on your holidays.

Staying in the center of Genoa on budget.
Good location, in the heart on the city, almost next to Opera House and Ferrari Plaza. Friendly staff, but little few rooms hotel and when you are ordering room for nonsmokers, but the owner and every one of staff are smoking, you do not feel good. Bathroom is VEEEERY LITTLE. Things like that you probably have to expect when ordering inexpensive hotel in very center of such town.Just next to it Farmers Market- Merkado ( for those who like such exotics ) Overall good.

GREAT LOCATION, FRIENDLY SERVICE, CHARMING
We chose this location because it was not too expensive, but central. It was an excellent choice. Simple but clean and pleasant with modern furnishings. Augustine went out of his way to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. It was a charming place to stay and we look forward to an opportunity to go back. Highly recommended.

Superb location and good value for the price
Great two night stay. Owners english not very good but very friendly. First room had shower that was raised and would be difficult for me to step up, so he gave us another room which was fine. Location was fantastic as we were in the centre of Genoa. They had free maps and walking tour booklets in various languages. Also gave us bottles of water. We travelled on the train from La Spezia to Brignole station, only 15 mins walk away with luggage. Bus to airport from piazza ferrari, took about half an hour and cost 6 euro.

We stayed twice. The first was OK and we were asked to write a positive review. We should have waited until after the second stay. When we returned for a 2nd stay we were bumped out of our promised room by someone staying for more nights. Our second room wasn't reserved as promised allegedly because of a "language barrier". So a 3rd person stayed on a cot in our room and we were charged extra for the room in spite of it being their error. Also, there is no A/C. On our 2nd stay the weather was warm and we had only a fan and open window to cool us. As a result, we were prey for mosquitos. We go to Europe every year and we will never stay at this place again. Also, it isn't a hotel. It is on the 4th floor of an old building and there is no staffed lobby. Also there is a smell of cigarettes on the hallway. The person who staffs at night is a smoker.

Once you find it it's fine. We had to get help because we didn't know it was on the 4th floor. Rooms were clean. No a/c so we needed a fan. Location could not be better. Unfortunately someone smokes in common area making it smell bad. But no odor in rooms. Would stay again because of location and price.

Incomparable location in a stylish old building within easy walking distance of major sights and close to airport shuttle bus. Limited amenities but more than compensated for by the very affordable price and friendly, helpful staff. Wifi connection available. Rooms on the small side but have a simple charm and are very clean.

This was a great location and the owner was absolutely amazing. He even made the reservation for dinner for us. He is really great to tell you where to go and what to see and was just super fun. The hotel is in a great location. Next to the old district and Christopher Columbus's house and a food market. If you have a car talk to the owner because he can get you a day parking in the Coin parking lot across the street for only 12 euro. I would definitely come back.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at the Olympia. The room, common area, and bathroom were very clean, and the owner was quite friendly. He gave us each a bottle of water upon our arrival, which was a nice gesture. Our only complaint would be that we had trouble finding the hotel, as there are multiple street addresses on the buildings in the area, making navigation a challenge. I guess this is more an issue with the city than the hotel, though!

Wonderful!
Augustino was incredibly helpful and friendly. He offered great suggestions for beaches and places to eat and visit. He also upgraded my room with no additional cost and found a fan for us when the heat made the lack of AC a little uncomfortable. The rooms were spacious and had a balcony overlooking the beautiful buildings of Genoa.

I had the loveliest stay!! The owners were incredibly helpful from the moment I checked in. They gave me a map, showed me places to sightsee and have the best local dinner. The rooms were clean and in the perfect location. Thank y'all for a wonderful visit!!

We cannot find the hotel at first, then we just park in an area nearby. After finding the hotel, we try to park in the department store COIN, sadly, with our poor technique, it is not possible as our rented car is too big. The owner is very nice and he helps us to park!!! good stay and good hotel!!!

Guy was great, couldn't be more accommodating. Right downtown, easy access to everything. He made up for his limited English, (which was way better than our Italian), by both of us typing into google translate. Worked great. Would definitely recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay - it was just what we needed. The Hotel Manager was very friendly and helpful. We went for a walk down the end of the street to a hill with a great view. Genova Brignole train station is close by
