"I had a really pleasant stay at The Ship. The room was compact but spotless and well-organised, with a comfy single bed, en-suite bathroom, TV, and a side cabinet stocked with tea, coffee, and biscuits—such a thoughtful touch. It had been a long time since I’d slept in a single bed, but it was surprisingly comfortable and perfect for a good night’s rest. I’d definitely stay again and would recommend it to other travellers looking for a clean, cosy spot with all the essentials.

"This hotel had very comfortable rooms, the staff were very pleasant and helpful, the restaurant menu was slightly limited but the breakfast was very good, particularly the table service breakfast the first day when the hotel wasn’t so busy.
Overall good value for money."
"One of the best Holiday Inns I’ve stopped in , staff on another level awesome, no pay for parking, great rooms & restaurants plus spa ✔️ definitely will be back as my brother lives nearby in Markstey "
"We had a lovely 1 night’s stay in this charming old inn, built in the early 1600’s. The staff made us feel welcome and served up a delicious full English breakfast in the morning."
"This is a great hotel for a short stay in Colchester. A very good breakfast, large rooms, and the location is great if you want to explore Colchester (right by the castle and park). "

"Really nice hotel. Managed to use gym and pool aswell. Breakfast was really good and well presented.
A little annoying you have to take the towel from your room to use at the pool.
Parking is an additonal charge."

My stay was short because of my schedule, but if I am in the area again I would choose to stay at the same place
