Arrived to this ‘deluxe’ room, with no windows, and a skylight that had no blind, which was directly above the bed. This meant it let in light, and a lot of noise from the A38 which is next to the hotel, but no view whatsoever.
The room smelt damp on our arrival, so we turned on the air conditioning, which was so loud you couldn’t hear the TV over it.
The entire place feels very poorly built, and we heard a lot from the other guests along the stairs outside of our room. The bathroom felt like a caravan bathroom.
When I enquired as to whether this was actually a deluxe room, the manager informed me that it is classed as a deluxe room, but in his opinion it needed to be changed, but had no control over what was stated as a deluxe room. He mentioned that he would have offered a change of room, but it was a full house. He offered no other kind of remuneration.
We had visited the restaurant in the hotel the year previously, finding that the restaurant was very nicely appointed, we imagined that the hotel would have been lovely, despite the poor reviews here. I was wrong. I have never said this about a hotel before but we would never stay here again.
