"The hotel was so comfortable, welcoming and had all the desired amenities. We used the sauna which was really lovely addition to our stay and enjoyed the hotel shop too. It was in a peaceful area and the staff were always on hand to answer any questions and offer refreshments. We had seen a couple of negative reviews for this property prior to staying but our experience was nothing short of exceptional. Looking forward to returning in the future."

We took the cable car up Mount Hieizan and enjoyed a nice, leisurely walk through the woods to reach Enryakuji's main buildings. We then took the local bus back to Kyoto's main station. It's an especially picturesque place during peak foliage.
