While nightlife is quiet except during matches, the area provides a professional atmosphere with well-maintained grounds and contemporary architecture.

Cathedral Quarter

Derby's Cathedral Quarter captures England's living history where medieval meets modern. The soaring 16th-century cathedral stands tall among cobblestone streets and timber-framed buildings. B&B HOTEL Derby

10/10 Excellent
"We had a lovely stay. Very friendly and helpful. We had a accessibility room because of my walking difficulties. And it was very big and well maintained. Only thing wrong in that bathroom was where the bin was as a disabled person I found it very hard to go under the sink and put my rubbish in the little bin. Maybe leave it near the toilet or out in the open so it's easier to reach. One other thing is maybe have 2 pillows on the bed. Our room had 1 pillow each we had to ask for extra. Everything else was wonderful. Breakfast was a basic buffet breakfast they are all the same, but it had plenty of choice. Fresh orange was very nice too. Will stay again. And we notice they have these hotels in different countries so may try them out in a different country. Well done everyone at Derby..."

When is the best time to go to Derby?
The best time to go to Derby is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months. These periods offer pleasant weather, ideal for exploring the city and its surrounding areas, with fewer crowds than the peak summer season. The spring months bring milder temperatures and the city's parks and gardens, such as Darley Park, begin to bloom. It's a lovely time for leisurely walks along the River Derwent or visiting attractions like Derby Cathedral without the intensity of summer heat or the chill of winter. You'll find outdoor cafes beginning to open up, offering a relaxed atmosphere.Autumn also provides comfortable conditions with crisp air and often colourful foliage, particularly in areas like Markeaton Park. This season is excellent for those interested in cultural visits to places like the Derby Museum and Art Gallery, as the weather encourages indoor activities as well as strolls through the city's historic streets. Winter (November to March) can be quite cold and wet, limiting outdoor activities, though Christmas markets can add a festive touch.
