Modern design beautiful and spacious room. Welcome drinks and fingerfoods was really delicious. I tried everything on breakfast and everything was really yummy. Coffee also was great, actually the best coffee I had in Italy so far. View of the lake is amazing though .

The hotel is quite clean and service is great (once you’re inside) however the local area is very quiet and feels quite dangerous to be out at night. We arrived from north Switzerland with two big bags of luggage on the train and called the hotel for a shuttle bus or assistance and they told us there was a back entrance which was a shortcut to the hotel from the station. Little did we know that there was about 50 stairs to climb to get to the hotel. If you go around the front it is also up hill...

My stay at the Grand Hotel Villa Castagnola Lugano was one of the best Hotel experiences I have ever had. My room was exquisite especially my gorgeous balcony with fabulous views of Lake Lugano. The surrounding gardens were so manicured and breathtaking! I stayed at Castagnola for 5 nights and my daily breakfast was a treat to look forward to. I also found the convenience of the Hotel to the city centre a bonus as I could easily walk this each day. Being a woman travelling solo I could not have...

The location of the hotel was good. Easy to get to Lugano Centre by Line 2 Bus. The bus was SO reliable & came every 20 minutes. The room had a great view of the lake but was not well equipped re power points. The bathroom was excellent. I thought for an expensive hotel it was a bit much to charge you if you wanted a cooked omelette or eggs fried or poached. Most hotels offer this. The evening meal was excellent. I loved my veal & it had beautiful tasty accompaniments. The hotel provided the...

Comfortable, convenient accommodation. Short walk to the shops and restaurants. Delicious breakfast in the garden each morning there was a beautiful start to each day.

We had a small problem at check in with the room but the gentleman on reception was really great and we changed room. His professional manner and advice regarding the room was very good. We had a good stay and would happily stay again. Loved having a balcony to look out over the lake. Stunning.

Nice hotel definately 4 star. Modern and clean. Within walking distance of shopping and train station. We walked to the cable car and took the cable car upto the train station.

Best views of Lugano while having beakfast. Very highly maintained and run business. Staff always helpful.

Free shuttle to take you to transport and main town, drivers are great and so obliging. Local town is beautiful with great restaurants. Hotel facilities are better than you could wish for, great gym, breakfasts amazing... staff helpful, friendly and obliging at all times. Got a hire car from budget (another great service and low cost) and went to Lucerne - great price and roads are easy to navigate on, even when we are used to the other side of the road. Customer experience and hotel has...

Good location. Room was very clean and staff were friendly. Happy stay! The only problem was that I paid CHF10.9 for the city tax as per hotel. But in my booking document I only need to pay AU12.45 for city tax plus tourism fee at the property. Ibis asked me to contact my booking agent who only said I need to pay the city tax. It was very confused me as my booking said I need to pay AU12.45 in the property but now I must pay CHF10.9 ( nearly AU20 ). My advice is if city tax needs to be paid in...

The reception staff were very helpful with activities, local eating places and scenic routes to my next destination. The breakfast buffet had everything. Really nice.

The staff at this hotel were excellent. Having two pools was a bonus as you could use the indoor pool when the outdoor pool was busy. The absence of a bar was a slight disappointment and the rooms were small even by European norms. Dated TVs meant no connectivity of maps.... but who goes on holiday to watch TV? Breakfast was very good too. The location (approx. 200m from Paradiso train station) made things very easy Tip: the number 2 bus will take you from the hotel (stop next to the...
