"Everything about the hotel itself was great—clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. However, there was an issue with the booking through Expedia, as the hotel had not received our reservation. Because of this, we had to wait until the standard check-in time, even though we had requested an earlier check-in. This caused some inconvenience, but overall the stay itself was pleasant."

"Only one 15-passenger lift worked, a stained couch, broken air conditioning, hair and soap scum in the tub, a slow-draining sink and tub, and broken housekeeping promises garner this hotel a negative rating. They moved our room for the second night. The lift remained broken, leaving only one 15-person lift available, with no promised-to-be-fixed-by date. We ended up walking up 16 flights of stairs because the line for the working lift reached outside the lobby. Hotels.com tried to contact the hotel, but the front desk refused to pick up the phone. We checked out on the third night. Terrible. Do Not Stay."

"The tv in the room didn’t work. One of the lamps was broken. To use the cold tap you turned it on then had to turn it off again to make it work. There was marks all over the bedroom walls and on the windowsill. This is the 3rd time we have stayed here and the first time we have been disappointed."

"We recently stayed at The Gate London and overall had a decent experience, mainly thanks to the great location. It’s very close to the underground and within walking distance of the Tower of London, which made getting around really easy. The room itself was good, and I really appreciated the complimentary tea and coffee, especially as it was proper coffee rather than the usual basic options. However, there were a few issues on arrival that let it down. Some parts of the room weren’t properly cleaned. The cutlery still had old food on it, the glasses were marked and dirty and there was some gloopy residue in the sink. We also booked through Expedia, which advertised a complimentary sparkling wine in the room, but this wasn’t there on arrival. We had to contact reception to request it and also mentioned the cleanliness issues to make housekeeping aware. While the staff sorted the missing drink, nothing else was offered or done regarding the cleanliness concerns, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, it’s a decent hotel in a great location, but the attention to detail and service could definitely be improved to match expectations."

"So unexpectedly quirky, loved all the things on display and how colourful the hotel was. Also, loved the plants everywhere. Breakfast was fabulous and the staff were all super polite and friendly. We definitely plan to return there."

"Took two days/requests to get a bath towel (none in the room upon arrival) and the top floor room's shower didn't work or weakly-m/intermittently due to lack of water pressure. Made mornings extra long and uncomfortable."

"The city studio is small. The kitchen equipment is very basic, a little more could be provided. We stayed for 4 nights, requested new towels and to take garbage out half way through our stay. No one came. Had to go to front desk and they gave me towels and a garbage bag, i was not impressed"
