A beatiful old, Victorian hotel that is slightly faded but still has a lot of charm. The staff make up for any shortcomings of the property by being friendly and attentive.

All the staff were really nice and helpful even past midnight. The pool was a good temperature and bed was very comfortable. 10/10 no complaints

We have stayed at this property every time we go to bournmouth it is very convenient to everything and very welcolming the room we had was a family room but if anything to complain about the beds we’re a little hard the parking is very good all under the hotel which gives peace of mind all in all another good stay and definalty be going back to this hotel.

The property was nice and in a very good location with easy access to the centre. We checked out early because the bed was rock hard and not good to sleep on. Apart from that everything else was really good. The staff cannot do enough for you and the hotel was clean and tidy

Great location
This hotel is a great choice for all the attractions of Bournemouth, only a few minutes walk to the gardens, shops & beach. The staff are friendly & the public areas of the hotel are well kept, welcoming & cosy. Our room was clean & spacious but the decor was tired that’s all. All the bedroom doors had a lovely Christmas bow on them which was a nice touch The downside of our stay was we were on the third floor & the lift was out of order, as two middle aged ladies we found this challenging, particularly carrying our cases up the three flights of stairs! We would stay again but request a lower floor just incase.

I stayed at the hotel at the end of November and was dissatisfied with rooms, electrical safety and staff. I have reached out to the manager with three emails and two phone calls which have been acknowledged but no response. I would recommend you seek a modern hotel, with modern equipment, the hotel looks good from the outside only!

The staff were very friendly, from reception through to cleaning. we were a family group taking three family rooms and had very young children. The youngest had a couple of accidents and the staff were so helpful and understanding. Big thank you to all The reception area is nice and has a grand feel to it, the rooms are a little bit shabby though. Threadbare arms on the armchairs, torn wallpaper (by the upper bed on a bunk bed so presumably a previous young occupant. The radiator in the room is in a strange position, below the window but covered by floor to ceiling curtains, so the heat goes straight out. However, the room was spacious and the hotel close to the town centre, so if you are just looking for somewhere to lay your head, it would be fine. It looks to have changed hands this year so I suspect there will be some refurbishment going on through '24

The room/bed was comfortable apart from it was rather cold as the radiator wasn't working properly but we were given an electric heater which made it very comfortable and cosy. The reception staff are very welcoming and accommodating. Stayed here last November as a large group for the weekend and the food was excellent. It's now under new ownership and the food this year was very disappointing. OK, but nowhere near as good as previously. The location is great for the town and the beach and the outside of the building looks lovely with all the external lights. I would recommend staying but perhaps eat elsewhere.

Great location and staff- breakfast excellent never dined. Room a little tired could do with a refurb and so corners of bathroom hard to clean also get refil shower gel like travel in too much plastic! The shower in room 321 wasn’t upto much more of a bath tab overhead not spray. Curtain nets ripped but overall was a good stay

Lovely place to stay.
The hotel is a beautiful old building with modern bedrooms. The location of it is excellent. Our room was very spacious. The staff were lovely - approachable, friendly and helpful. Will definitely be returning here in the future. We did not eat an evening meal in the hotel but the breakfast was lovely.

DONOT CHOOSE THIS VERY TIRED HOTEL
WORST HOTEL I HAVE STAYED IN FOR A LONG TIME. SAFE DID NOT WORK. WAS TOLD I SHOULD NOT HAVE USED IT. RECEPTIONIST VERY UNHELPFULL. BREAKFAST WAS VERY BASIC, NO FRESH FRUIT ALL OUT OF TIN. ROOMS VERY TIRED OLD BATHROOM DIRTY. HOTEL OVERALL IN A VERY POOR STATE. NEEDS A BIT REBURBISHMENT. TV DID NOT WORK. NO IRON WAS TOLD I COULD GET AN IRON AFTER 9 AM. NOT HELPFULL WHEN YOU NEED TO GO TO WORK AT 8AM.

The hotel and bedrooms are comfortably refurbished while maintaining traditional character. Very central location and moderate prices . Staff were willing , and tried to please but not good at handling a problem like TV not working. Guests want to learn what action will be taken, not why it can’t be done at the moment of reporting.

Spacious rooms
Booked completely last minute for a quick trip to Bournemouth due to the lovely weather. Only booked one night, and booked two rooms. Both rooms were spacious and had comfortable beds. Breakfast was good. Staff were helpful. It’s obviously a coach load destination for older guests- but we didn’t need to spend time other sleeping at the hotel so this was fine.

Very noisy due to work being done to door locks. This was not put on the hotel's web site. All keg beers unavailable because of out of order delivery system. When I was out during the day workmen had been in my room.

Unfair Remarks,Good Stay
Enjoyed another great stay at this character filled gem of a hotel. I read with dismay the unjust and frankly rude review left recently .Floor boards creaking & dated decor are in line with the properties age. Perhaps a Premier Inn & Tesco Meal Deal would have been a better choice for you. For those who appreciate old style elegance this is it. We stay in a deluxe double with private patio area. Well worth paying slightly more for, they are spotlessly clean & spacious. These rooms look over the garden area with great access to the pool. Which is lovely and reassuringly smells of the required chlorine. All staff where extremely friendly and efficient. Parking is very convenient & competitively priced. Breakfast was plentiful hot and certainly edible. ( sausage & scrambled egg not great though!) The Hotel has recently had a change of ownership so some teething issues . Having booked a year in advance we were dissapointed by:- No complimentary newspaper, lack of water in rooms & downgrade of tea & biscuits/toiletries. . Change of our check in 1500 & check out time 1100 . Now 1600 check in & 1000 check out taking 2 hours from our stay. (I was hoping to have a morning swim ) This however is now reflected in the Hotels pricing. Overall would recommend & stay again.

Time away with family.
Great weekend away with family, hotel was lovely, desk staff were especially helpful at check in, and at other times aswell. My daughter uses a wheelchair, and although we put in the notes when booking through Hotels.com that we needed an accessible room, when we arrived she hadn't been allocated one, i think they were all booked out, but they were very caring and gave us a really big room which I think might even have been a suite, so that made it easier for her to get around the room. The pool was really lovely. Would definitely stay here again.

Used to be great place to stay.
Loud clanking noise though the night, also heard it in the car park when we left. We were in room 207. The room as clean and tidy. But walking down the stairs near the room the wall paper is looking very tired and was coming away from the wall in place. We have stayed here many times in the past. Breakfast is now plated…. It is a talent to serve a lukewarm egg and under cook it. Sausage also lukewarm. By wife’s was fine. Sadly it appears the change of owner has changed the hotel.
