“Best spa”
Great time at the spa. Nevermind the Aussies with women half their age. The joke is on them!
“WANDRFUL HOTEL”
NO WORDS ARE ENOUGH TO DESCRIBE FEELINGS BUT IF I WANT TO GO BACK I WILL MAKE SURE TO STAY IN THE SAME HOTEL
“Best Service in Manila”
The Hotel provides incredible service, I had been sick before in May, and the hotel doctor and nurses looked after me. This hotel treated me as family, and although they don't discount much, their service and helpfulness is amazing. I stayed there 3 times in 1 year. I will always try to stay there when I am in Manila.
“nice facility”
This is a very conveniently located hotel in Makati City, great breakfast, large room and bathroom, good fitness facility and swimming pool
“Typical for the Philippines, tries, but just can't quite make the international standard”
I should say, I've been visiting the Philippines on and off since 2001 and I stayed in the Mandarin for 2 months for the first trip. I have stayed in the Ascot (formerly Oakwood), Peninsula, Shangri La - in fact all the 4/5 star hotels in the business district of Makati. The Mandarin used to regularly win Business Hotel of the Year in Manila - those days are gone. This shares the Mandarin name, but in no way expect either accommodation or amenities to the level of other Mandarins, e.g. Tokyo, London, Paris, etc. The staff are friendly and the old time staff are very professional and friendly. Trainee staff are used to deliver fruit and run errands, but this means unsupervised they will knock on your door, even if the "Do not disturb" sign is hanging on your door. The hotel is old and it badly needs a facelift and radical updating - bedside light switches do not work, the plug in the bath was broken, the hairdryer disintegrated in my hands. As I have said, I've used it regularly for 8 years , on and off - but if the room rate is not low, I'd honestly say go to the Penninsula or save money and go to Somerset Olympia, which although technically 3 star - the rooms are much more modern, tidy and comfortable.
“Manila Stay”
good
“A hotel which deteriorates with every stay”
I have been coming to this hotel on and off for more than 10 years. I originally chose it because of location near my then office in Manila (given the awful traffic) and because it was a Mandarin. Every time I go back it gets worse, and it has got to the stage where I will not return but will go to the nearby Shangri La or Peninsula. This is a hotel which Mandarin Group should be ashamed to call one of theirs. The rooms get worse and worse; the quality and variety of the food in the restaurant both at breakfast and dinner were very poor, and very expensive (by Manila standards). On this occasion, the bed linen was of appalling quality also. There was no recognition of me as a regular customer (probably 15 times over 10 years). All-in-all to be avoided.
“Filipinos are friendly people”
put simply, the service and constant assistance that we received from Mandarin Hotel staff at all levels was amazing, we did not want to leave.
“Mandarin Oriental - Manila”
Mandarin was an excellent hotel. Staff was super courteous. Buffet was excellent both selection and service.
“Doesn't compare with the Mandarin Oriental in Kuala Lumpur.|”
We arrived late at the hotel as I was flying in to Manila from Abu Dhabi. Checking-in was quick and painless and business-like. Check-in personnel were friendly and polite. I found the room rather small with little room to move about. The room was well-equipped, however. I like rooms with iron and ironing boards. Well stocked mini-bar, although I didn't use it. Bathroom toiletries were fine. Cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. Breakfast buffet was quite good with a good selection and the staff friendly.
