Lovely property, been staying here for years…..I will say that the new owners/operators are a real hit & miss…… sometimes you get a smile but most times you don’t. Certainly don’t feel as welcome as previous owners…… that made this place….. struggling to want to stay again….

Beautiful room and outlook, superb facilities and lovely staff and atmosphere. We’re coming back and we’re so excited about Petone too it’s gorgeous and fabulous shopping and high quality cafes!

Ava Lodge was a fantastic place to stay. It was clean, cosy, comfortable and well worth the price. It was close to the beach and shops and there was good parking.

Easy check-in process. Very clean with plenty of linen, pillows and additional blankets.Sufficient toiletries for travellers that pack light. Location was perfect for us to be able to access areas in Lower Hutt.

Everything was great besides the fact that I was somehow allowed via Expedia to book a room for 2 adults and a child (2yrs old and all details put into the site when searching) only to be told when I arrived at check in that our room didn't allow children which was a bit of an awkward situation to be in. Ended up all having to sleep in one bed which was ok for 1 night (still annoying at 39 weeks pregnant) however I wished that I wasn't given the option to book there if there wasn't any availability of space for the child-maybe it was a site glitch but to be told on arrival when I was about to pay the property that our room wasn't for children seemed a bit of an average thing to do-I would've booked elsewhere had I been notified by the motel once my booking and room request had gone through online about the room not actually being able to cater to us,not on arrival when I had no other option left.

Hi Perhaps you missed the message sent to you prior to arrival as shown below -Hi Zarette - We do not have roll-away beds available plus the room type that you have booked does not have the space to add an extra bed.Unfortunately the room will not be ready by 11am with the occupancy level high the night before and check-out time being 10am.Warm regards,ChristinaA tip for future is also to read the bed size so you know how wide it is for sharing with a child.All the best for the arrival if you new baby -Take care and keep well -Warm regards from Christina and the Team

Hi Andre If the light is out in the bathroom there is no noise as the fan does not activate.No other guest has mentioned a problem with the fan noise before or since your stay. You may have unusually heightened sensitivities.All the best for your further travels from the Team at Ava

The room was nicely designed and well-equipped. Unfortunately it looked directly into another room about 10 feet away so we couldn’t open the curtains. It was clean except for dust on the higher shelves in the closet. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Stayed the weekend to visit family. Room was awesome, spacious and well set out with very comfy bed & sunny outdoor space. Enough room for visitors & no issue getting a couple of extra glasses. Super convenient to cafes/restaurants/shops and foreshore.

Brand new and presented as. The manager was very helpful. I had a trailer and the trailer was accommodated. Please ring ahead if you are bringing a trailer to let them know. Full cooking amenities, and laundry. Up to 5-star hotel standard. Top shelf premises and staff.
