"Good location to visit surrounding areas. We stayed in a deluxe cabin and a standard cabin for 2 nights. Comfortable room sizes. Pool could use couple more chairs or loungers for guests to use. Landscaping opportunities around the property to alleviate less mud build-up might want to be considered. Easy check-in, check out. Suggest pack food, or have a set of wheels to get to the few available restaurants."

Equipped kitchen and washing machine were a welcome surprise. It was very peaceful given the central location, and we received a warm welcome on arrival. Unit had a large bed, double sofa bed, kitchen, dining table, large balcony, jacuzzi bath and shower. Parking was provided free in the underground car park....

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Upper Daintree?
The best area to stay in Upper Daintree is the Daintree Rainforest itself, particularly around Cow Bay and Cape Tribulation, as this puts you right in the heart of the natural experience.

This region is characterised by dense rainforest meeting the Great Barrier Reef, a truly unique ecological intersection. Accommodation here is generally eco-friendly, ranging from secluded bungalows to more established resorts, all designed to blend with the natural surroundings. It's a place for disconnecting and appreciating nature, with limited internet and mobile phone reception in many areas.

Couples looking for a romantic and secluded retreat will find the Daintree an ideal choice. Many lodges offer private balconies overlooking the rainforest canopy, opportunities for guided night walks to spot nocturnal wildlife, and access to pristine, quiet beaches. It's great for those who enjoy hiking, birdwatching, and simply relaxing in a beautiful, natural setting.

Families with older children who appreciate nature and adventure will also enjoy staying in the Daintree. There are opportunities for crocodile spotting tours on the Daintree River, exploring the boardwalks through the rainforest, and even snorkelling or kayaking directly off the coast where the reef meets the shore.
When is the best time to go to Upper Daintree?
The best time to visit Upper Daintree is during the dry season, from May to October, when the weather is consistently pleasant and ideal for exploring.

During these months, you can expect warm, sunny days with lower humidity and minimal rainfall, making outdoor activities like jungle walks and river cruises much more enjoyable. The temperatures are typically in the mid-20s Celsius, which is great for comfortable sightseeing without the intensity of the wet season heat. This period also sees fewer mosquitoes, which is a definite plus for travellers looking for an easy experience.

This dry season is especially well-suited for couples and families looking to experience the Daintree's natural beauty without weather disruptions. The calmer river conditions are ideal for spotting wildlife on a Daintree River cruise, and the clear skies make for fantastic photography opportunities. Many tours and activities operate at their best during this time, ensuring you get the most out of your visit.

While the wet season (November to April) brings lush greenery and dramatic downpours, it can also lead to humidity, more insects, and potential road closures, making it less convenient for those seeking a smooth and comfortable trip.
