"Location and overall appeal of the hotel is great. Some staff are really good and helpful. Most are courteous but the language barrier makes it super hard at times. I personally didn't like Unawatuna. We have been a month in Sri Lanka amd there's plenty of beautiful and relaxed beaches without the high rise buildings and pretentious resorts. There's some nice restaurants and you can day trip to Fort Galle.

Beautiful beach with plenty of food and drink outlets right on the sand. Sheltered and good for swimming.
