2/10 Terrible

"Saw all the good things people wrote about it so i thought it be decent, i booked the most expensive room they had available. I get to the hotel check in and there was a confusion in my booking they wanted to give me a lower price suite but heck no. tried to check in around 10 and was told the room wasn't ready so we go and eat breakfast and shortly after we go to the pool...around 2pm we head back over to see if room was ready and still no. Shortly after a worker that helped us with our luggage said our room was ready and brought our luggage to our room. Shortly after a worker came to our room asking if we were checking out??? the heck...this gentlemen came back twice im not sure if he was trying to kick us out or not but somehow they finally figured it out. Later on that night i was going to use the tub i turn it on and wait for it to fill up and minutes later the water was leaking out from the bottom of the tub sighhhh. Alright at this point i ordered some room service and the gentleman was super nice. Take a first bite of my quesadilla and there was piece of glass in my food....I was let down by how much i paid versus what i got even though the staff was super friendly"

Barceló Maya Palace - All Inclusive

"It was our first time staying at Barcelo Palace. We stayed in the Oaxaca Building and our room was somewhat close to the pools. The room itself felt spacious and had lots of storage pace for a family of three. The property itself is large and combines several of their other hotels. The hotel offers shuttle service to the other parts of the hotel but we walked and felt it wasn’t more than a 20 minute walk to get to their furthest property. This is an all inclusive resort but we were not premium so we didn’t have free room service. My daughter was bummed about it but it was ok as we didn’t spend much time in the room. We liked the food at the buffet as well as their Brazilian and Seafood restaurants. Staying in the Palace allows you to eat at restaurants at the other properties. We also ate at their Italian and Spanish restaurant. Overall, we really liked the food! The servers were attentive and friendly. The only issue is having to make reservations for some of the restaurants. We really wanted to try their hibachi restaurant but we realized too late that we needed to make reservations at the beginning of our trip vs towards the end. The sargassum is prominent but we also travelled during the month of May. We didn’t swim in the beach because of the sargassum. The hotel was probably at 60% capacity and it could be a result of the sargassum. On the bright side, we had no issues finding lounge chairs by the pool. The pool is great! We also enjoyed the entertainment."

Barceló Maya Caribe - All Inclusive

"We had a really nice stay at Barceló Maya Caribe overall. The resort was very clean, the food was great, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The facilities were also very good and well maintained. The only reason I’m giving 4 instead of 5 stars is because of the noise situation around the pools and hallways. Some guests, especially weekend groups, were bringing large portable speakers and playing loud music everywhere, even though the resort already provides music in the designated pool areas. At times there were multiple speakers competing with each other around the same pool, which really took away from the relaxing atmosphere. One night there were even people shouting and playing loud music in the hallway around 4 AM. I understand this is mostly caused by certain guests, but I think the resort should enforce stricter rules about personal speakers and quiet hours, because otherwise the experience becomes much less enjoyable for everyone else. That said, this is still a very good resort and we genuinely enjoyed our stay. One small note as well: some activities/facilities that are usually included at other resorts, like the water slides, required extra payment here."

"Ana was amazingly responsive to any question we had, always responding within minutes. The place was spectacular and very clean. We loved the nearby cenotes. The space worked very well for our 10 family members, including a baby. The landscaping was beautiful. It was very quiet and peaceful."
