"I wish I’d just paid more to go to a chain hotel. This was terrible, the shower took 10 minutes to warm up by this point the bathroom was already flooded and the water was leaking into the bedroom floor. One of the great benefits was ‘FREE PARKING’ listed on their advert but I was in fact charged for parking for the few hours I was there overnight!!! Conveniently close to the airport but that’s about all that was good about this place."

"The location of this hotel is fantastic if you have a morning flight out of Stansted because you can very easily just walk to the terminal from here. My room was small but clean and well appointed. It wasn’t ready at check in time though which was frustrating. I had to wait over an hour in the lobby until it was ready. I was given a complimentary latte for my trouble which was nice. The breakfast in particular at this place was something to rave about. They even had vegetarian sausages available which was amazing! I would definitely recommend this hotel if my travel plans had me flying out of Stansted."

"Have stayed here a few times and the rooms are becoming to look a bit tired. Bathroom needed a good clean or a refresh. Had good black out curtains which allowed me a good sleep. reception and bar area look amazing when you first walk in but the rooms need a refresh"

"This hotel met our needs. It is in need of an update. The shower pan was dangerously slippery without any grab bars. There was a warning sign but better to put something on the surface to minimize or eliminate this issue. Also, in our assigned room, the tempering valve (that controls the shower water temperature) did not function and consequently the shower water temperature was extremely difficult to control resulting in a possible scalding as the hot water was extremely HOT!! This all said it was close to Stansted and met our needs before an early morning flight to Prague."

"The hotel was good for £58 a night just before flying. The lady behind the desk was absolutely lovely when we checked in. The rooms were clean but they miss out on detailed cleaning but for one night, it isn’t an issue. Room was huge, we walked in and said ‘woah’! Very close to the airport, easy bus services that drop you off just outside the services. Also very close to multi different food places and they had their own separate car park from the services one."

"Very friendly and helpful staff make the Gem a good place to stay. The twin room was clean and pleasantly furnished, but when the weather is hot, as it was last weekend, the room gets very hot. The fan provided helped, but only one small window can be opened in the room and similar in the en-suite bathroom, so little air movement. A portable air conditioner would be a possible solution. The road outside the room is also busy from quite early on a Sunday morning, so even if more windows opened, you wouldn’t want to leave them open all night unless you want an early wake up call from the traffic. Shame about the heat as other than that it was a pleasant place to stay and there is an excellent Mediterranean (Turkish) restaurant just down the road if you fancy something a little more exotic to eat."
