"Broken AC in a heatwave = bad news"
My wife and I booked Hotel del Mare as an airport hotel so that we could rest a bit before flying back to Canada after a wonderful three weeks of honeymooning in Italy. The location of the hotel has an unbeatable view of the beach, which is just across the street. The neighbourhood feels like it would be pretty rundown if it didn't have airport and beach goers supporting it, but it certainly didn't seem dangerous. The beach itself is fairly long, and is made up of a series of man made coves and breakwaters. In typical Italian style, it was a bit dirty with way too much litter, at least the public sections we were on. Pros: - nice rooftop patio, and is right across the street from the beach - very nice helpful staff, and they spoke English well - shuttle service to/from the airport - respectable breakfast - decent wifi Cons: - air conditioning didn't work in our room and it was in the middle of the heatwave - the shuttle won't pick you up if you're taking the train to FCO

"Great Staff"
This was our last stop on our 3 week honeymoon and arrived mid morning (hours before check in) and the staff quickly had our room cleaned and ready for us. We were able to relax in a quiet atmosphere after 3 busy weeks. It is close to the beach and wish we had the opportunity to explore a little more.

"Basic, but all we needed after a long time flight."
The Best Western Riviera, not to be confused with Best Western Airport, which we did, ( blame the the jet lag ) is a very reasonably priced hotel, accessed from Rome airport by shuttle bus. Reception staff were very helpful, breakfast was plentiful and fresh. The room, while basic, was quiet, and spotlessly clean. We had Free internet access. Certainly not a " flash" expensive spot to sleep for the night, but we couldn't actually find any fault!

"Delightful hotel"
The lady running the hotel was extremely welcoming and helpful. It is a refreshing change to stay in a place where people actually care about your experience. The hotel is close to the beach and I had a delightful bike ride around the small seaside town. Fregene is easy to get to from the airport i.e. no traffic but not as close as Expedia lead me to believe. However having said that if you have a bit of time before your flight out of the airport this is well worth the extra ride. Note the taxi driver was very annoyed at having to take me to Fregone instead of Rome, presumably due to the lack of a return fare. Expect to pay 30 Euros for a cab.

"Nice beach front hotel with modern fittings"
After a busy few days in Rome, was great to relax in this lovely beach front hotel. We had a lovely room in an annex building with a sea view balcony. Great sized room, large bed & massive shower. Breakfast was buffet style with lots to choose from. The beach attached to the hotel was just across the road, you can hire 2 sun beds & an umbrella at a reduced rate, ours was in with the room, bikes are also available for investigating Fregene. Staff were very helpful, & all spoke very good english if your Italian is a bit iffy! Not far from the airport or Ostia Antica (ruined Roman city) Fregene is a small town with lots of pine trees & lovely to walk in, variety of shops, cafes & restaurants dotted around but most beach areas have restaurants & if you love sea food this is the place for you. Would go back again.

"Mediterranean Resort in Heart of Rome"
This was a perfect hotel in many ways. The location on a hill, right next to The Vatican was also walkable to other major sites and shopping. The staff was professional and upbeat without fail. The concierge was enormously helpful making adjustments to plans, dinner arrangements, in-country transportation and tours even in other cities. The recently renovated, pristine hotel room itself was a master class in space planning. Our family of four all had comfortable beds in one room (with optional privacy room divider) and a walk in closet to open all of our luggage and hang clothes while hidden behind closed doors. This meant that the room always felt luxurious and organized. The pool was gorgeous and an ideal family retreat after a day of touring. Food can be gastronomic for foodies or dialed down for kids or a casual meal.
