"This is a wonderful place to go at one of our favorite beaches in the country! The family villa was perfect for my family, and the proximity to a great pool and the beach can't be beat. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The breakfast is good - not spectacular but solid, and filling to fuel for the day. I would hesitate to pay full price for the accommodations as they do charge a lot, but if you get a bit of a discount this is a great option!"

"Fourth time to Costa Rica and this time was definitely the best, in large part due to how well this beautiful property was able to accommodate our extended family (9 people). The main house is thoughtfully designed and stocked with everything you need. The furniture and bedding are high quality and functional. What really separates the property though is that there are two separate cottages, a separate laundry room, and an incredible covered outdoor area near the pool with a huge grill. Everything wonderfully maintained. Walking to the beach, the grocery store, and a handful of restaurants is easy, and you can grab a tuk-tuk to central puerto just as easily. I was surprised by how much the area had to offer compared to our last visit 10 years ago - definitely excited for the chance to come back as soon as we can!"

"Excellent staff and the property is reminiscent of a resort more so than a hotel/stay. Access to beach is extremely easy, attached to the backside of the property, though the beachfront is not 'developed' or 'set up' so do not expect a resort-like sun-chair set up. Excellent location if you want to be away from the hustle bustle of puerto viejo, but still biking distance to get to all the shops and cafes. Fabiano at the front desk, and Rosita for breakfast service, were both absolute delights and extremely helpful :)"

"We had the best stay at awa!! The property is very tastefully done , location on the beach is perfect , breakfast and just food overall (including the coffee) overall is delicious, and I can’t say enough good things about the staff , esp. Johnny .. he went out of his way to help us with some last minute booking changes that we would’ve otherwise stressed about. I also asked the reception staff about the amazing coffee they serve and they were kind enough to give me a sample !! Overall very relaxing and enjoyable stay and totally worth it !! Highly recommend AWA and we hope to be back"

"Our family stayed for a second time at the Kukula Lodge and it again exceeded expectations. The owners and staff are friendly and helpful, the grounds are extremely well-kept, rooms are clean and comfortable, breakfast is plentiful and delicious . . . and the lodge is just a few minutes' walk to the beach. To top it off, the price is very reasonable- what more could you want? It was truly a pleasure to stay at Kukula Lodge and we will certainly be back!"
