"Our room had pretty textured walls and beautiful artwork. The furnishings were also high quality. Its a 3 minute walk to the beach, and within a few minutes drive of a mini-mart, ice cream place, and some restaurants. I couldn't figure out when checkout time was, but another guest told me 11am. Also the doors have # codes on them so you can check in without seeing anyone. But the insides of the doors don't have slide locks, so we were worried about someone being able to enter if they found out...

"My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at The Tranquil House Inn in Manteo while we explored the Outer Banks. The rooms and service were great, and the location right on the water in downtown Manteo was perfect. Manteo has a charming downtown that offers plenty of shops and attractions without feeling too touristy. We also really enjoyed the light breakfast offerings each morning and the staff were so friendly and helpful."

"The host communicated back with any and all questions in a timely fashion. The house was very clean and beautifully set up to make our stay incredible. The views are from several different places in the house, and comfort inside and out.Beds were comfortable as well. I would definitely stay at this place again and would love to meet the host."

"Great experience at this property! It was the perfect size for 2 adults and a dog. The kitchen was stocked with cooking/eating utensils. Our host responded immediately and quickly came to change the propane tank for us when it ran out. Nice deck area to sit outside and have a meal or just relax. It was the perfect middle ground between the north and south side of the outer banks. We really enjoyed being able to walk to the beach for sunrise and sunset as well. The road was very quiet and we felt safe. I highly recommend staying here!"

"Although we were just a short walk from the beach, the place was a disappointment. When we got there it was obvious the floor had not been swept or mopped; there were balls of pet hair in the corners and under tables, dirt and sand on all the floors. We were told that the cleaning crew would not be able to come so I asked if they could at least provide a cleaning solution and I would clean the floor myself. Next, the air conditioning was not working, the maintenance man had to bring in window units. In addition to those issues, we could not get the television to work and then the hot tub would not heat up. The hot tub was not fixed until our 4th day there. This meant that maintenance workers were there almost everyday, not the private and relaxing vacation we had hoped for. We ended up leaving a day early and were offered no compensation."

"Excellent property. It is right on the beach-can’t get better than this. Beach itself was clean and good for a nice long uninterrupted walk. Our host, Brian was in close contact with us throughout our stay. He provided us with very useful suggestions. I have stayed at multiple five star properties throughout the world. This beach home can very easily compete with any those resorts in terms of proximity to the beach, fabulous views and a gorgeous property with all the comforts of home."

"We had a fine stay at this spacious house. Our kids loved having their own rooms since we live in a much smaller house. The kitchen was well-stocked and the little office/work area was appreciated. The comfortable, quality furniture on the decks made relaxing there attractive While, it was too cold and windy to spend a lot of time on the beach, the supply of beach chairs, kayaks, lifejackets, etc. was excellent! The proximity to the beach was close.We were disappointed that there was no hot tub due to malfunctioning equipment, even though we had specifically asked about its availability. "
