"An amazing hotel and well worth paying for a mountain view, Fujisan was on full display. Friendly staff and great location. Recommend checking out Fujisan Pancake for breakfast, excellent!"
Hanz Outdoor Resort (formerly Glamping Villa Hanz Kawaguchiko)
8/10 Good
"A very good option for city dwellers who want to experience camping in the forest without the hassel of bringing all the equipment. The forest is beautiful."
"Clean room daily delivery of water and towels, air conditioning was nice and cold and the room had a humidifier which we loved. Very spacious easy to take stairs or elevator. Laundry room was very clean and provided laundry supplies and was very reasonably priced. Walking distance to Lawsons for snacks."
"The facility is a little dated and distant from public transportation. You will need to utilize either a taxi or the provided shuttle to Kawaguchiko station. Otherwise, every single room has a stunning view of Mt. Fuji, the public bath is nice enough, the breakfast is pretty good, and the staff were helpful with English-speaking guests.
There is a large Manga collection in the lounge as well as a gift-shop. The view of Mt. Fuji is good enough that you can get all your pictures and videos from your bed 😁."
"Wakakusa no Yado Maruei gave us an unforgettable ryokan experience. We visited in mid‑May, and the staff’s warmth stood out from the moment we arrived. Even though we came early, they checked us in using a translation app, stored our bags, and welcomed us back enthusiastically at check‑in. We were treated to green tea and manju in the lobby bar, which made us feel like VIPs. Our bags were already in our room when we arrived.
The room was spacious by Japanese standards, with an entry area, leather slippers, double sinks, a shower, a separate toilet room with its own slippers, a living area, and a tatami sleeping space facing beautiful Lake Kawaguchi. The futon bedding was very comfortable.
The hotel has three onsen areas—indoor, outdoor, and a private one. We booked the private onsen in the afternoon as recommended, and the view of Mount Fuji was spectacular. We were lucky to have clear weather, making the experience even more special.
Our in‑room kaiseki dinner was a highlight. Each of the many small dishes was beautifully prepared, including an aperitif from a local winery. Breakfast the next morning was just as impressive, with gorgeous presentation and thoughtful service.
While Japanese people are known for their polite and respectful manner, the staff at Wakakusa no Yado Maruei truly go above and beyond. This was our first ryokan experience, and I would absolutely return for the serene room, the wonderful food, and the exceptional hospitality."
